On Board Credit-Do They Check what You Use it On

I know Princess states that OBC cannot be used in the casino.  I was wondering, if I charge the slot machines to my room, does in fact Princess check your room statement and deny any charges that were made in the Casino?  I have a upcoming cruise, with all gratuities paid and a OBC of $450.00. If I choose, I would like to gamble in the casino (slot machines) to use up some of that OBC.  Any comments or previous experience with this would be helpful.

No. We use excess OBC in the casino on almost every cruise.

Non-refundable OBC which cannot be used in the casino will not be used on the folio to offset casino charges.  The computer simply will not allow it.

 

Obviously, there are different types of OBC and some of those CAN be used for casino charges (purchased OBC, TA OBC, etc.).

I've never had a problem charging $$ from the casino to my onboard account.  A long while back, some number cruncher said it was too difficult for Princess to program their debit ledger to decide which OBC's would be applied where.  

 

There's credit and debit recorded each day.  The account will note which is non-refundable and it will be used up first.  Other than that, I've been able to use the funds in the casino.  Now....someday...Princess will stop this practice and we will all be very sad.

Many, if not all of us do exactly what you say cannot happen.

I've never heard of the restrictions on OBC actually being enforced.

 

That being said, "Past performance is no guarantee of future results".  Once upon a time, they accepted Stockholder OBC requests by email; then someone in their Legal Dept took a good look at the Dodd-Frank Act, and Santa Clarita doesn't any more (although Southampton, UK still does).

 

It used to be that Princess' shipboard systems did not know what flavor each award was.  They do now: check your Personalizer or folio statement.  I'm quite sure Princess would rather let the situation ride and avoid any drama, but there was a reason the onboard systems started tracking OBC by flavors.

I recently used "cannot use in the casino OBC" in the casino. I've gotten nonrefundable OBC paid out through the casino with no problem.

We have $600 obc given to us from Princess. We prepaid a $1000 casino credit. If we gamble in the casino the first night, which will be applied first?

The $600 from Princess is most likely non-refundable and will be used first. The pre-paid casino credit will be vouchers in your room and redeemed at the casino.

Is that still true? 

 

I saw a post about a year ago saying their pre=paid casino credit was just added to their onboard account instead of being on vouchers you could turn in for cash at the casino. However, I have no recent personal experience with this.

Policy may have changed, but nrobc will be used first for daily service charges etc. If your pre-paid  casino $ go to your general shipboard acct., then that will simplify things.

for now ... but the more times things like that are posted , aka coffee card abuse, the sooner Princess will look at it in more detail ...
