Debarkation Order

Last time we were on Carnival we had "Priority" get off.  We all assembled in the appropriate location and were led off to the elevator landing where they were controlling the cars.  We got off and led to an outdoor deck and found ourselves in a long line of "self assists".   We waited forever to clear.  Our elevator was directed to the wrong deck.

Just curious, can’t you “walk off” carrying all your luggage with you as soon as debarkation is allowed?

In the same order.....and then by floor

They call self assist by deck. And I have heard them say "if you aren't on deck 1 or 2, don't come down now." I guess some people come down whenever they want...and It just slows things down  for everyone else.

Yup, it can take a process working and turn it into a nightmare.

On short cruises, it seems almost everyone chooses self-assist. It can really get to be a mess with huge lines trying to get off early, crowding elevators, stairwells, and hallways. We've found it much nicer to just sit up on an upper deck relaxing in the sunshine for a bit and wait until they start calling regular debark.  We end up getting off just a few minutes after the rush and avoid the lines and chaos.
