uscgmom Posted November 16, 2019 #1 Share Posted November 16, 2019 Does Celebrity offer anything in the way of upgrades or perks when there is a price drop after final payment has been made? Our cabin category dropped about $1000 and our TA has said that there is nothing to be done. I thought I have read in other posts on here that sometimes the cruise line will offer onboard credit. Just wondering what others may have experienced. Thanks!

No refund or exchange will be given on a promotion offer (added value) NOTE: an Added Value Offer refers to an amenity added to your booking, such as an onboard credit, specialty dining, shore excursion, etc. For a request submitted after the due date of final payment AND the booking is within 48 hours from creation, the following applies: Request for a Lower Cruise Fare Celebrity will apply an onboard credit to the booking in the amount of 110% of the difference in price. Request to Add or Change an Added Value Offer Celebrity will 1) apply an Added Value Offer to booking and 2) go to prevailing eligible cruise fare NOTE: If either the new cruise fare or Added Value Offer is not combinable with any promotion associated with the existing booking, or changes are being made outside of promotional booking window, the existing promotion will be removed from the booking. gold1953 Posted November 16, 2019 #3 Share Posted November 16, 2019 You should be able to upgrade to a higher cabin category. Celebrity will not deal with you as you have an agent .

Celebrity will not deal with you as you have an agent . Most times they require the upgraded category to be at least $1 more making it really a paid upgrade. Sometimes Celebrity will offer a complimentary upgrade to a higher category which is below what you paid. Your TA needs to push this issue for you, if they can't get some sort of satisfaction for you it might be time for a new TA. dani negreanu Posted November 16, 2019 #5 Share Posted November 16, 2019 No OBC, just an upgrade to a higher category, if available. We upgraded for free twice from 1B to C2. When the prices dropped further, I've asked for free-grats, met with a categorical refusal, BUT we were offered another free upgrade, this time to A1. We declined since we didn't like the location.
ShawninFL Posted November 16, 2019 #6 Share Posted November 16, 2019 Check the pricing of a higher category. You may be able to upgrade to better cabin for just a few dollars. Also, if you have not perks or 2 perks, you may be able to add these on the higher category for very little as when you upgrade you obtain the current booking promotions. Ask your travel agent about an upgrade instead of getting a refund. A few months ago after final payment we were able to upgrade from an Ocean view with 2 Perks to a Balcony with all 4 Perks for about the cost of what the gratuities were going to cost us on our 14 night cruise. Plus we also got free WIFI and the upgrade to the Premium Beverage Package. Essentially it was almost a free upgrade since we were going to have to pay the gratuities on board.
gold1953 Posted November 16, 2019 #7 Share Posted November 16, 2019 Be careful when you ask for an upgrade. If you have perks now and the new price does not ,the upgrade will move you to the new offer.. and you will lose everything that came with your original price.
Virgo61 Posted November 16, 2019 #8 Share Posted November 16, 2019 You stated that your cruise went down about $1000 after final payment. There are a number of factors to consider. I will tell you our situation and what we did. We were booked on a cruise with a total cost of $3941.96. We made our initial deposit of $500 and made the final payment of $3441.96 just 3 days or so before the Veteran's day sale. The price of the cruise dropped $737.16 (my husband is a veteran). At first our TA and Celebrity told us there was nothing they could do. However after thinking about it for a day or 2, we decided to cancel the cruise, pay the $500 penalty, and re book the cruise. That saved us $237.16 not a huge sum. However we also went from 2 perks to 4, and an upgrade in the beverage package. In addition, we gained an additional SBC of $200. So all in all a very substantial benefit. Cancelling and re booking was easy. We had to re book all of our shore excursions, and specialty dining, but the Celebrity agent re did all of our dinner reservations. So my advice is do all of the math and see if the savings (after a cancellation fee) are worth the trouble.

We were offered an upgrade, however, we are already in a Sky Suite so the upgrade was to a Celebrity Suite and would have cost us $1600 per person.

Yes, the farther you are already up the cabin categories, the opportunity to be able to upgrade due to price drops after final payment diminishes. I wish you a wonderful cruise.

I wish you a wonderful cruise. Yes, and no. We've been incredibly lucky and had the opportunity to upgrade from a Celebrity Suite to a Royal Suite for $500 per person on a 12 day Australia/New Zealand sailing in 2017 (this was prior to the Move Up program, btw). It just depends on inventory and opportunity. With the current Move-up bidding, the dynamics have changed a bit. That said, we also scored a Move-up bid acceptance this past August from a Celebrity to a Royal for $450pp on an Alaskan sailing. I realize we are probably not the norm, but it can happen.
