We are booked on a june 2020 harmony cruise and it has a different deck plan then the cruises this year so i assume its going into dry dock for some modifications??  Does anyone know what is changing or can point me to a thread that discusses it?
Thanks

  • Clarea changed the title to Harmony Refurb question

Harmony will only be in drydock for a little over 5 weeks.  I can see them adding everything that they did to Oasis with the exception of the additional cabins at the front on deck 14.  I would also expect them to remove Jamie's and Vintages and replace those with Giovannis Kitchen table.

Since your cruise is before dry dock, the deck plan changes might just be category changes.

Since the Harmony of the Seas is so new, I'dexpect that there wouldn't be any significant changes, other than the usual swapping out a restaurant or two.

In fact, once the last of the Amplifications are done in 2021, every dry-dock after that will seem underwhelming.

Unless there is another round of Amplifications being planned for the smaller ships.

Royal is also changing their stateroom categories on all ships Radiance Class and larger in the very near future - what you are seeing may be virtually the same layout just with different categorization. I'll be honest though, I do not recall off the top of my head when this goes into effect...

We are on HOS in June 2020 with family and again in March 2021 with a group.   We too noticed the different deck plan for the June 2020 trip when we first began planning many months ago.  But we have not been able to find anything online about a refurb/amplfication of any kind until the April-May 2021 dates above. All cruise dates between now and late Spring 2021 are filled with cruises.

So still not sure why the different plan is listed online.  Could it be just category changes?

Yes it is just minor cabin category changes.

Has the Jamie's contract run out already?

Maybe but they never added it to Oasis and they have a new concept for Allure with Giovannis Kitchen Table and my personal opinion is that you will see the new Giovannis concept on Harmony.

Contract started with Quantum so makes sense that Oasis and Allure didn't change to Jamie's.

Regardless, if the contract is still valid I doubt they will opt out of it. If it's done I can see them changing it like they did with the pubs once the contract was not renewed, or the dropping of the Dreamworks stuff. But in that case it will be all the ships, and not just Harmony.

  • 2 weeks later...

save your $$$ and eat in the MDR. We had the head chef, 4 waiters and Mgrs. at our table

every nite. Lobster nite they brought a tray with 8 to 10 tails for us. We loved it. Service and food

was 5 star plus every nite. Had the same waiters and steward for both Harmony cruises!

We go to Kobe's in Tampa and spend 80 bucks for steak, lobster and the full meal for 4,

before tips of course. Who wants to spend hundreds of dollars after you have already

paid to eat? The speciality restaurant thing is out of hand, used to be 25$ pp extra pp, now

its full retail. so sad. Steak at Shula's and Ruth Chris steakhouse is 4x better at about the same price. Ps= Captain Johnny Makes me look normal... 🙂

We are prime in the casino> free drinks!

Harmony 9/22 and 10/06/19

Brilliance 12/19/19

Rhapsody 2/29 and 3/26/2020

Mardi Gras 10/24/2020

We are the Moore's

Tampa Bay
