Stockholm port, hotel

We're sailing the Marina out of Stockholm. Does anyone know what port is used?

Also, we plan on arriving 2-3 days early, Any good hotel recommendations central to sightseeing, etc?

If the port is far from Stockholm (as Civitavecchia is from Rome) we'll just figure out how to get there and enjoy Stockholm instead of staying close to the pier.

thanks

In June 2016 we stayed at the Scandic Copenhagen -- a 3 or 4 star, I think.  Very pleasant and a decent location for getting around.  We were only there on night in advance ... The taxi ride to the port wouldn't have been to lengthy had the driver known where our dock was ... we did get there eventually!  But it was NOTHING like the time from Rome to Civitavecchia!

Best hotel by far is the Grand Hotel.  Right on the water and overlooks old town and the palace.

We sailed from Stockholm on the Marina last summer.  The ship was docked at Frihamnen which is a 15 minute taxi ride from the city center.

We stayed at the Hilton which is very nice and I recommend it. It’s close to Gamla Stan -  a 15 minute walk.

When we took our Baltic cruise about 5 years ago, we stayed at The Mallardrotnigem Hotel.  Which is not a brick and mortar hotel,  rather it is a converted yacht from, probably, around the 40's-50's.  It once belonged in its yachting days by the 40's-50's actress, Betty Hutton.  It's been converted into 'hotel staterooms'.  Not very large ones except for the master stateroom at the front of the yacht.  Breakfast and dinner were included, and the food was outstanding.

If you are into old, classic yachts, this is the place to stay.  Think Botique Hotel, but on a yacht.  Right near the port, the old city, etc.

We stayed at the Scandic Gamla Stan, a boutique hotel in the historic quarter. We were there 3 nights and much enjoyed our stay. Older, not so polished, but the location is fabulous -  so convenient that we can just walk out and be in the touristic centre. And they serve a lovely buffet breakfast.

Do Not! miss the Vasa Museum. This incredible ship was sadly sunk on it's launch with everyone onboard, but was miraculously found, recovered and preserved. Enjoy your stay in Stockholm.

That must be incredibly confusing for many people. A hotel in Stockholm named Copenhagen.

They'd be right to be confused since I was really talking about Copenhagen and not Stockholm ... I wonder what I was thinking when I responded to the post!  My bad ...

That's really funny. I made a similar mistake re the two recently. Weird.
