I am currently on the Zaandam. Last night, everyone seemed to be in good spirits as we finally departed Chile and were set to continue to Fort Lauderdale. However today around 2 pm, we were instructed to return to our staterooms and remain there, possibly for the next few days as a precautionary measure. Seems that a number of passengers and staff have been complaining of "flu-like symptoms".

Oh no.  Certainly not what anyone needs.  Stay well.

Best wishes to you.  Thank you for keeping in touch.

That doesn't sound good.

Stay healthy.

Update on the Zaandam from Captain Albert. He's still onboard the Rotterdam which is at sea headed south to meet the northbound Zaandam.  Rotterdam is carrying medical supplies and medical staff transferred from both Oosterdam and Eurodam. Captain Albert's blog ends with the company statement on the situation.

Zaandam (last postion 8 hours ago at 14.97 S/78.51 W) and Rotterdam (current position 16.78 N/101.15 W at 0800 EDT) are roughly 2,300 nautical miles apart. Assuming combined closing speech of 40 knots the two vessels are about 57 hours apart, perhaps a few hours less depending on Zaandam's progress in the last few hours. That's all assuming a high-seas rendezvous (Be happy to have someone double check my math. Lat/Long from VesselFinder.com

... which would be 2,152 nm apart, or 54 hours assuming both vessels are making 20 knots and intend direct course high-seas rendezvous.

I'd guess they plan on meeting in the Gulf of Panama.

if they are intending a direct course, high-seas, rendezvous, Rotterdam should be steering 142 degrees (roughly SE) and Zaandam 323 degrees (roughly NW) ... but that doesn't appear to be the case. At 1000 EDT Rotterdam is steering 120-degrees at 22-5 knots paralleling the coast so a rendezvous offshore Panama seems more likely. Don't have an up-to-date position/course for Zaandam
