Hi girls..........I had my follow up phone call with the Endocrinology Dr. Actually, I spoke with a super nice gal😃 who is a PA and we chatted for at least 20 minutes about everything from my hospital visit until present. She ordered me a new meter, lancets, etc to start checking my blood sugar again. I told her my A1C has been below 7 too. Well, I checked my sugar today and it was only 116.

I have an appt at the office near me in early March. The main office is pretty far from me and that is why I had a phone visit......I didn't want to drive to the other side of town.

Yesterday I had another appt with my Kidney Dr and my numbers are continually getting better too😃

Melody, how is Les feeling? Send him my best.

Kat, your sneakers are cute😃

Thanks Lois. I just came in from shoveling the 9” of our ‘rain expected’. I almost had to sit on Les to keep him inside!  I told  him we leave in 10 days, you’re not shoveling!!!  He’s definitely feeling better, gallbladder surgeon appt right after we get back from the cruise. Cortisone shot is definitely helping his shoulder. Wish it was working as well with SI joint. His leg wants to give out quite often. At least he’s pretty good with the cane. Melody

I'm leaving Sunday for my next cruise on Celebrity Reflection. This is the last one for a while.

Lois, glad to hear your health is improving.  I remember you did go through a rough time.

Melody  you got the "rain" that we didn't get!!  Maybe a half inch showed up.  And, supposedly no more until after the 1st.  My snowplow guy is making money off of me so far!!

I was invited to "have a drink" at one of the owners place tonight as I was walking the floors, doing my end of the day hall checks.  I almost started crying as 1)I was still working and 2) I had to drive home.  Darn my ethics...  And, this was the owner who gave that $700+ bottle of wine do the MD.  I wonder what I could have had...

OOTD:  black jeans, Athleta cammo Tshirt and my tan-ish heather cashmere zip up hoodie.

Happy Sunday morning....today is a BIG Football Day for those of us who love the game😃The Ravens host the Chiefs and the 49rs host the Lions!!!! Winners play in the Superbowl. I am rooting for the underdog Detroit Lions😃

And now to the cruise question......LOL....I am looking for a cruise for my birthday in March. Not even sure where but I know a few of you have sailed different lines than me........Cynthia, Kat, Melody?

I was actually looking at Princess around the California Coast......have any of you all sailed with them?

I have not ever.......and it has been a LONG time since I sailed on a "Big Ship"...........I would even go to the Caribbean but usually March is spring break time and I don't want to sail with a bunch of kids.......

Any advice?

Oh yes.....I forgot about them. Thank you. Will see what kind of prices they have for solo guests.

.....although after sailing with Silversea, Lois may find the small cabins on the smaller Oceania ships rather pokey. I don't mind them, but others complain about them.

Now there is a cruise or two out of Miami on Oceania's newest ship, Vista, that might be worth considering. The ship is very popular though, so not sure how much cabins are going for. Definitely won't have a lot of kids, though.

Lois, I can't help with Princess -- I used to sail with them when I cruised with DS, they suit families well. But I am not a big fan of their bigger, newer ships. We tried Regal Princess and both agreed it was probably the least favorite ships we'd been on.

I was just looking at the Oceania website.......looks like everything is waitlisted and no good offers for us solo guests on these particular sailings either.

Cynthia, you were recently on HAL, right? What is your opinion of them? I sailed with them once many, many years ago........like back in 2005......

HAL's three newest ships (Rotterdam, Nieuw Statendam, Koningsdam) are nice -- designed somewhat similarly to the Celebrity S-class ships. Bigger, but not huge. Koningsdam gets worse reviews than the other two, newer ones.

I was on Nieuw Statendam on my TA cruise in November. I enjoyed it. The food was not bad, but on the plain side in the MDR. Their Asian specialty restaurant is very good. They have a small cafe midship where you can get specialty coffee and small food items that are Dutch in origin -- a great place for a morning or afternoon coffee and treat. A bit like Cafe al Bacio but with better food options.

The cabins are pretty spacious, especially if you book a verandah or above. I had a large Inside room and it had a small loveseat; however, my friend also had an Inside with no loveseat and nowhere to sit except a small stool at the desk/vanity area.

They don't have "big" production shows in the evenings but do have guest performers and their own small dance group. Instead, they tend to have smaller venues with various types of music ongoing throughout the evening -- piano bar/dueling pianos, B.B. Kings (they play a lot of 1960s/1970s dance music), Rolling Stones rock room, etc.

If there's any more questions, feel free to ask. I wouldn't really recommend HAL's older ships UNLESS you were looking for a specific itinerary.

Lois, we’re Celebrity fans, but they’re starting to price themselves out of our market. Celebrity Constellation is homeported out of Tampa; she’s a smaller ship with fabulous crew. Silhouette is one of the SClass ships (others being Solstice, Eclipse, Equinox & Reflection) is homeported out of Ft Lauderdale…lots of specialty restaurants. Celebrity doesn’t have a large presence on the west coast. Best part of Celebrity for us is all nonsmoking casinos & very few kids (especially on the longer cruises). Melody

Thanks girls, Melody, I sailed with Celebrity for 15 years and was looking at them but from reading some stuff about them and what they are charging solo guests I am not sure I want to give them my business again. From.what I read, they are charging solos more than double......I know they want 2 people in the cabin but charging for more than 2? I will look elsewhere. Oh, I have sailed on every ship you mentioned.

Cynthia, I will take a look at HAL.....thanks

We’ll be on board ship for SuperBowl & won’t even bother to watch it. If the Lions had won we’d have watched. We have a specialty dinner booked for that night

Hi again....Melody, looking at Celebrity again and they must have changed something.....I found a Caribbean Cruise that has a great price (for a solo) new ship too........bigger than I am normally used to but I am definitely thinking about it. It is a 7 night cruise on "Ascent"......sailing out of Ft. Lauderdale in one of the new "Single Infinite" balcony cabins.

The new Edge class ships have a very few solo cabins. I, personally, don’t like the infinite balcony at all. It’s not a balcony, it’s a window that opens from the top. We spend a lot of time out on our balcony
