Has anyone received their refund from NCL?

Recommended Posts

I received full refunds today on two cabins, deposits included, on the 7/13 Sun sailing cancelled by NCL.  Submitted my refund requests on the first day the refund form was available for this sailing, 4/20.  Thank-you NCL.  I will probably sail with them again, but never book anything until the last minute, given the poor communications on the refund...had I not read CC I wouldn't have realized that the refund was possible.  Every communication was strictly FCC.  But all's well that ends well...now just waiting to see if are Latitudes account is credited the 22 nights.

It’s been 120 days since we cancelled our prepaid DSC and we’ve heard nothing from NCL. When I call them, they say the refund is pending. I know it’s a small amount compared to what others are waiting for (in our case it’s $435 as it was a 15 day cruise) but that’s no reason to make us wait indefinitely, in my opinion.

I cancelled my DSC and Beverage/Dining pkg on March 10th, subsequent calls/email I got  'oh we didn't actually submit that until March 14th'  'we had a bunch to submit and they were all submitted April 1st'  'shows pending, it could take up to 90 days'  '... it is taking longer than the 90 days ... '   'should be released soon, you should see it by Friday (two weeks ago)'   'it shows released now so you should see it within 24 hours (2 days ago)'.

This refund amount is not earth shattering to me and the responses above are not all from me specifically calling about it but asking while calling about another service (some from an email thread inquiry so I had it in writing) so I have not been pestering but this is ridiculous when you see others from May and such getting their refunds.  I no longer trust what they tell me.  I really want to at the time and I actually do hope THIS TIME maybe ...but just more of the same.  I really do feel bad for them but it is equally frustrating to feel misled.

My FCCs have now been transferred to someone else and I wish them happy sailing with NCL.  Oh and even that was fun, I called to have a future cruise cancelled to get my FCCs back in my account to transfer and I asked the chat agent about this and she suggested 'if it was her' she would call to have it done instead of email ... ugh.  So when the FCCs appeared in my account I followed her advise and called, this agent took all the information and can you guess what happened ... nothing.  Call back, agent says nothing in the system that I even called, nothing shows it being requested ... NOTHING.  So what was the other agent doing during the 20 minutes she was 'taking my information'.  Totally stunned by this.  So I hang up, send email and the FCCs were transferred that same day ... OMG the FCC transfer team has it together!  Guess they want the FCCs in the hands of someone that will use them.

Oh .. and sorry for the even more bit off track stuff here but ironically in the short window my FCCs were back in my account (literally the next day) I got calls from NCL TWICE to tell me about deals and help me book my next cruise.  Unbelievable.

Here's to hoping we both get our refund soon (this year maybe?)  I so want to be done with this.

Our refund is in our credit card as of July 10.  Full refund came in 3 different charges.  Submitted request on May 7.  Cruise was June 14.  A little over 60 days.  Our Princess cruise took 113 days so I am glad we are done with cruise refunds.

Finally pulled the trigger and called NCL to cancel our December cruise.  Booked through Casinos at Sea, I called that number and call was answered within a minute by a real person...he cancelled the three reservations quickly and told me my deposit refund would hit my card in 5-7 business days.

I'm prepared for a long wait based on what I've seen here by others.  We'll see....

Very happy that NCL refunded deposits yesterday and cruise fares today for June 7th cruise. Completed online refund forms on May 7th. No letters emails or phone calls required. Group of 18 people have all individually received refund to original form of payment. We did not receive email notification or anything else from NCL nor was it necessary. Grateful to Christ our Lord for the Blessing of health and the ability to have even the opportunity to vacation in general and specifically to cruise. Looking forward to when it will be safe and possible again. To that end wear masks, social distance, wash hands frequently, and stay in except essentials and work if you are Blessed to be employed

FINALLY .. day 123 I got my refund for my cancelled DCS and Beverage/Dining (prior to cruise cancelling under POM).

March 10th: Self cancelled DCS/Dining/Beverage

July 11th:  Refund on CC

What a lot of unnecessary noise over this as it seems clear to me the money was marked for release on the 120 day mark and the 3 days is just the 'true' system overhead.  If they had just told me that day one I would have been a but 'ugly' but I would have accepted and just waited the time, but instead it's been so much time of non-trust.  Shame.  So much of this is managing expectations.

Good luck to everyone getting their refunds, at least it seems they will eventually arrive.

Finally got my refund! Never got an email confirming it by NCL, but it was posted to my credit card account on 7/7. Was for a 4/10 sailing that I submitted the refund request for on 3/23 (first wave of cancellations). I actually disputed the charges on 5/5 after the "going concern" announcement and unfortunately lost the dispute, so I am very happy to see the funds back in my account even if it took over the 90 days.

I'm on Day 127 and still waiting for my refund of my pre-paid DSC.  Like you, I called and cancelled this portion on March 9th prior to NCL's cancellation of our April Encore cruise.

I had actually received contact from Customer Services in early May about mine.  The credit card information they had on file needed the updated expiration date (same card.)   I happily provided that and figured my refund wouldn't take long if they had actually noticed the expiration date.

I'm not going to go broke over this amount, but it is just another frustration that it's something else I need to track and watch for.

I can 100% relate!  It would seem it's all about the switch from Pending to Released so whatever the heck the algorithm is on that which seems to have a bit of random tossed in.  I am sure you will get it, just the uncertainty of time that is frustrating.

Looking forward to days past this darkness.

We just received our refund.  Ours was for a Haven we had booked for December.  $1000 plus two CN certs.  I was very surprised it only took 30 days to get refund.  I was even more surprised that when I called CAS to cancel that they did not try to talk me out of cancelling.  I hope for those still holding out hope that the cruises scheduled for later this year will make it.  I just don't see it happening in NOLA where our cruise was scheduled to set sail.  Too much covid and too many people not taking it seriously including the orange headed one currently occupying the oval office.

For a Norwegian cruise vacation on June 18th, 2020 NLC canceled, we got our first refund.  We submitted a refund on May 7th, 2020 and got our first deposit of $100.00 to my credit card.  Hoping the rest of the money comes soon.  No email, no notification but credited my card.

Thank you Norwegian Cruise.  We still plan on taking another cruise with NCL.  I know people are mad and won't want to cruise to NCL.  Bottom line its your money and I too would be mad and say bad things about them.  Hoping NCL returns the rest of the our refund and still on planning to take another cruise once it safe to do.  James & Angie

I am at 131 days waiting for prepaid service charge and prepaid dining to be refunded. It's only $569 - but it's egregious. I continue to call the customer service people and my PCC, and they keep saying the funds have been released but the status is processing. They say they are sending notes to the accounting department to ask for the account to be looked at. Grrrr....

I know what you mean!   I'm at 132 days for refund of prepaid service charges.  At this point, it's not the money so much as the frustration of waiting and tracking.  I'm getting tired of checking that credit card account.

Customer Service told me last week they are sending a note to Accounting too😒

I was at 110 days and finally got bev charges and taxes and fees back due to consumer advocates getting involved. Then, last Friday, about the 120 day mark, they fraudulently recharged our beverage service charges. We promptly opened another dispute with the CC company as well as an Atty General and the FMC that helped us get the prior refunds. Also cancelled the credit card NCL has on file. NCL no longer has a valid credit card number to illegally and fraudulently charge for services they never provided. Just another desperate, illegal, fraudulent attempt at an interest free loan from our bank. The good news is we caught this quickly, so the money is in our pockets, where it will permanently remain.  if the bank pays NCL, they can fight with them to get it back. We are done. So sad.

I'm still sticking with NCL.    I've been reading (here on CC) that other cruise lines have similar problems.  We still love the ships and crew even if this process hasn't been handled that well🤨

I just want to get the vaccine and get back to cruising.  I won't be paying anything out of pocket until it starts up again.  I'm  just moving my Cruise Next certificates to another date until then.

Agree with this. I shouldn't say we'll never sail, cause never say never. However, we would only book super last minute where we don't have to pay our credit card bill until after the cruise concludes. They've lost our trust and we will not pay them in advance for services to be provided. And, all other things equal, they would be our last choice. If we could get a similar price on Royal, Celebrity, Princess or even Carnival or MSC, yes we would give Carnival or MSC a try over Norwegian. If we don't like it, we won't cruise them again.

I requested refund for cancelled cruise on 13 April, first day when it was possible. After more than 90 days (yesterday) I contacted NCL by e-mail informing them that refund has not been done. After few hours received answer that it has been processed and should receive it soon and in fact, I recived it today. Total 99 days waiting time.
