ellie 1145;  I will take one of those pizza that were sitting on the counter in Alfredo's.  I hope they have tabasco for my pizza

Agree with you on Alfredo's!  The Majestic doesn't have pizza by the slice on the Lido deck so we were quite happy to visit Alfredo's on more than one occasion during our cruise.

Here is a question for you azbirdmom;   did you like the Majestic more or about the same as the other Royal class ships?

I'll chime in on this question.

We like a lot of things about the Royal Class with the exception of the small, narrow balconies (we enjoy spending time on our balcony).  Things we enjoy about Royal Class include Alfredo's and the World Fresh Marketplace, especially the high top tables.

The Majestic (but not the other Royal class ships) has the ramen bar and the Hollywood Conservatory.  The Conservatory is a great addition for viewing when cruising fiords and the weather is crappy.  At the back of the Marketplace is also a Mongolian Grill every second day for lunch, and the opposing days, sushi.  What you don't have on the Majestic is Crooners - when in Australia the VIP Gaming Center becomes Crooners but it is tucked away.  We like to sit in Crooners each evening before dinner, have a few drinks, and people watch, which isn't possible on the Majestic.  We still do so on the Majestic, but down in Vines.  But it just isn't the same.

As for which type of Royal Class ship we prefer - both have pluses and minuses.  If you were cruising to Alaska, New Zealand, South America, or Norwegian fiords, the Majestic would be my preference as you have a protected viewpoint in the Hollywood Conservatory.

Just our thoughts.

Hmmm, probably slightly less than the Regal or Royal, primarily based on dining options.  Service was excellent but the food variety in the buffet wasn't as broad as we found on the other royal class ships and we didn't think it was as tasty.  Could just be us.  I enjoyed the noodle bar but missed the pizza by the slice place on other Princess ships.  My husband definitely missed that (he's not a fan of noodle soups) but Alfredo's was as good as always.  We aren't fans of the Sanctuary so we didn't miss that.  I am guessing that when the Majestic moves to the US market that some of the food outlets will change from Asian influenced to what Americans are used to on other Princess ships. And other venues may change as well.  Given the likelihood of future changes, I don't think it would be valid to gauge our experience of what the Majestic was in a different market to what it will be when it moves to the US.

We enjoy the Pub Lunches ,the last few cruises we have been on the lines have been long unless you go for a late lunch too close to Scone O Clock ...look well at the Patters to find Pub Lunch it is in the small print .

I think we were lucky that day as we arrived early and we were near the front of the queue. 👍

We always go to the Pub Lunch when they offer it.  Even if the line is very long, it does move quite quickly.  I usually order the fish and chips and absolutely LOVE the bread and butter pudding!

The bread and butter pudding is almost as good as the Princess soufflés! 🤣

I sure hope Ellie and her husband are doing well.  Maybe it was my premature posting that caused another problem with her Tardis?

Good evening! I’m sorry I been AWOL. We decided to get away for a few days as the weather was so good. Actually it’s been too good, way too hot for us. But the weather is about to break with rain for the rest of the week, and we are in the middle of a huge thunderstorm at the moment.

I’ve had very patchy internet so haven’t been able to post as usual, but I will get back to Noumea very soon. Hope you can all wait for that. It’s worth it I can assure you. We had a lovely day there.

DH is doing much better. He’s been able to cut back on his painkillers and has managed to walk about more.

DuchessRN would have been proud of me yesterday when I managed to remove the steristrips on his wound, which is healing really well and is very neat. Don’t think I would ever make a nurse I’m afraid! 🙀

So hang on in there, chat among yourselves, and I will be back to take you all to the beautiful Ile aux Canards.

Goodnight, sleep tight, see you all very soon!

I think we liked Majestic better as a ship, but maybe that is because of the Hollywood Pool. That really was a real bonus.

Some of the decor on Majestic is very beautiful, such as Crooners.  Princess Live has since been improved on Sky Princess, but it is not a venue we enjoy on any of the other 2 Royal Class ships, and is definitely not a favourite of ours on Majestic.

The smallness of the balconies did not worry us too much as it was still possible to sit out there, but of course, the balconies on the Grand Class ships outclass them.

Crooners was disappointing, although a beautiful lounge, but trying to make it dual purpose has not made it a good venue for listening to music. Having to change certain things to accommodate the Chinese market has not worked in Majestic’s favour. Whether she will ever return to China I do not know, but while she has to cater for two very different markets there will always be things that don’t quite work.

We don’t actually use the Casino, but we love the fact that when sailing out of Australian waters it is totally non-smoking. This eradicates the smell of stale smoke which, with the best will in the world, permeates the outer areas.

We also felt the buffet was not as good, and the Bakery was definitely inferior to the Patisseries on Royal and Regal (though I’m not sure if these have changed to Bakeries too? Anyone been on them last year?)

We thought the staff were just as wonderful and we had many great conversations with them in the buffet and elsewhere. Service was excellent we thought.

But whether one likes one ship better than another is very personal. For example, we were never worried about the lack of the middle elevators on Royal, but some felt it was a disaster for them.

I’d certainly jump at the chance to sail on Majestic again. Indeed, I’d jump at the chance to sail on any of the Princess ships!

Let’s hope that we will all be sailing one day soon. 🤞

Thanks to everyone who replied about their feelings toward Majestic.  I have not been on a Royal Class ship yet;  I have only sailed the Grand Class ships.  I had trips scheduled on Sky; but that is on hold until next year;  thus my questions about the Royal class ships.  Have a wonderful day.

You're welcome!  I had thought by the way you phrased your question that you had been so I didn't mention things like the smaller balconies, no wraparound Promenade deck etc. that are often mentioned as negatives for the Royal class ships.  On the positive side the buffet is usually amazing (at least on the Royal and Regal) but who knows how that will change in the age of COVID restrictions.  The indoor spaces are plentiful with a much larger atrium.  The adult pool area is nice and in my experience lightly used.  I enjoy the Royal class ships but then I haven't met a ship I didn't like (well except the Caribbean Princess but not gonna go there...).

Progressive Trivia

We do quite well this time, after a pretty abysmal 13 points in round 3, and achieve 17/20.

Here are some of the questions to tax your brains!

  1. Who was the first member of the British Royal Family to graduate from university?
  2. What was the real name of Little John in the Robin Hood stories?
  3. In Classical music, how many symphonies did Brahms compose?
  4. What year was the first Woodstock Festival held?

Fastest finger’s first, of course, and a wonderful prize could be winging your way, courtesy of Amazon (the river of course!).

Trivia over we go for a walk round the deck before making our way back to our room to watch a bit of a movie. Trivia is at 3.00 pm in the Vista Gaming Lounge, so we get there early, as on sea days it is very popular, and thankfully, our usual seats are still empty.

This is followed by afternoon tea, as usual, and we enjoy a relaxing cup of tea and some freshly baked scones in the dining room.

There is no more Trivia until 5.15, and as it’s Cheesy Dance Classics in Princess Live we give it a miss, as it’s not really our forte.

I get ready for my daily private swim in the Hollywood Pool, which is very interesting as the water is sloshing about, with the movement of the ship. It’s quite an experience as the water in the pool swishes from one end to the other, and it’s great fun.

Ellie I am very proud of you with the Steristrip ,I am glad your husband is improving . My Brother told me about the very hot weather , Reno also has been very hot but luckily we have air-conditioning .

Thank you, DUCHESSRN. I don’t think I will give up the day job yet.....

The weather has broken, and yesterday and today we have had rain and thunderstorms, which has reduced the high temperatures, but isn’t great for a ‘staycation.’ 😪

I would love to sail on Sky Princess. She looks as if she has had some improvements made on the other Royal Class ships.

We like both the Grand Class ships and the Royal Class ships, but we love the new ships, despite the smaller balconies.

Good luck with your future cruise. Hope it will take place eventually.

Hello again, Cruising Adventurers!

Well, I am having trouble uploading photos, as our internet is so poor here.. So I’m afraid I will have to wait until we get home.

But it won’t be long until I can get going again, so please bear with me.

Take care everybody!

Little John, name was reversed;  his name was John Little and he was supposed to be almost 7 ft tall

Like our friend from Texas stated Woodstock was Aug 1969

I listen to Rock and Roll so can't help with Brahms
