MyVegas Rewards - bit confused

Recommended Posts

Repricing a cruise does not change the reservation ID number, to which in theory the original OBC applied.  I tried to add an OBC to a previous reservation that I was repricing and RCI said it could not be used as it was not a "new" reservation as it remained under the initial reservation number.  Also, the original reservation was made more than a year before the cruise date.  It seems that the MyVegas rewards are great for those booking a new cruise within a year of departure.  Unfortunately, that is usually not me.

Repricing won't make you lose it, but you may need to call back until you get a rep that knows what they were doing. Though I didn't have trouble repricing the cruise, but...

I had a cruise that only had the myvegas and when I wanted to do a lift and shift when it was canceled they were all telling me I couldn't because it was a "casino discounted cruise" even thought it wasn't. I only go the OBC. My friend who had done the same thing for another cabin on the cruise was able to do it no problem. Took me hours to sort out telling them over and over again I was eligible for a l&s it's not a discounted cruise, until I found someone that actually looked into it.

But now with things getting back to normal just adding the OBC shouldn't cause problems.

Thanks y’all, I guess I read it as the deals that you had before you would lose......but we are just looking at general public deals, minus the myvegas, so it’s not anything secret or comped.....

so I’m glad I’m not working against repricing within a 30 day period (we bought on July 4) to get the myvegas to stick with us.

Thanks for the help!

Not sure who you were asking, but since the wording is very clear on the fact you can’t apply both, (compared to other things that need clarification) we purchased with the discounts that they had in their sale and applied the obc to that.....

for others wondering, I emailed them the voucher info on Sunday, realized I put my birthday in the 1000s instead of the 1900s, emailed them to clarify on Tuesday, and they emailed me back with confirmation within about 30 min of the OBC on the account.....

I would think the TA doesn't care about Myvegas.  We did it before, haven't moved this one yet.  Probably tonight.

Just moved my cruise to a big box TA.  And I've just now repriced my cruise due to price drop.  No issues.  Since myvegas was applied by Casino Royale folks, TA doesn't care about it.

Now I’m wading into the ta waters, I checked with one before we booked and they didn’t have much to offer (others they did have offers for, but we wanted this particular one).....and I saw earlier that some people can’t put the OBC into a “group” reservation (which some people said that their “deal” through a ta was just their group discount block), so now I just should find a ta that will make sure the OBC sticks and can they reprice for us? Or would we have to contact them when we see a lower price?

Maybe i I should read the pages and pages about finding a ta.....hahaha

If I use MyVegas to get a "free" cruise, I know that's for an inside cabin -- for two people, correct?

What costs would we still be responsible for?  Gratuities and port fees, I assume, plus of course any drinks and other charges incurred on board.

Can we purchase an upgrade to, say, a balcony cabin?  If not, can we use RoyalUp (if offered)?

Are C&A points accrued?

This past weekend, used RCLs site to book Harmony CP view balcony.  Am diamond, FL resident and 55.  "Purchased" a $100 OBC reward on MyVegas.  Sent redemption email to the Casino Royale email address.

Got reply today they posted my OBC.  Received new Guest Invoice.

Will transfer booking to big box agency later this week.

Haven't spoken to a soul at RCL.  All online and email.

Been playing MyVegas for many years and the refreshes don't seem to happen often - when they do, it seems to be a slew of sailings offered at one time and once they're gone they're gone.

My guess is that they are unlikely to be issuing availability of free cruises until the downsides of higher occupancy go away.  Right now I imagine Royal would like most passengers to be paying for the cruise and to not necessarily have too many passengers.

Just my hunches.

I used to get the OBC which I don’t see anymore.   I was hoping to at least take advantage of some free play.  But it’s constantly sold out. I caught it yesterday when there was 1 left.  Clicked. Nope not a available which was really annoying as I backed out and came back in and it still said 1, but again not available.   Was checking about every 30-60 minutes today.  Went from sold out to sold out, but 1 left on the smaller free play. Argggg

I am a bit confused with $100 OBC reward. I purchased one recently and was able to redeem to my cruise purchased less than 30 days ago through priceline. However I am trying to get another $100 OBC and it says can't buy anymore on myvegas. I know there is a limit of 2 RCCL rewards per rolling 180 days you can buy, but same reward you can buy once only? is it also within 180 days? and after 180 days I can buy a new one? Anyone purchased $100 OBC reward more than once? When does it let you buy a second (and so on) reward? Anyone knows? 🙂

If I redeem the wild card 10% off to book a new cruise, can the 2nd person on the cabin redeem the $100 OBC reward to the same booking after?

Welcome to CC and coming out of a long lurk mode.

In general, you get more feedback if you post during the day on EST.

I don’t believe so, as T&Cs state one reward per reservation, not per person

HOLY COW I forgot about MyVegas!  I did this a lot a long time ago for a trip to Vegas and realized I don't need to go back, so I stopped.....

Booked my first cruise with RCL last Sunday for May 2022.....so I look at the rules, and it says "new bookings only" and "must be redeemed by Oct, 5 2021"........

Would that mean that I would have to redeem before I book? And I would have to sail before Oct 5?  If I can make this work, I will be super excited.....

You have to redeem within 30 days, not sail. Cruise cannot be more than a year out.

Just an FYI for others, I saw some more explanations on another board, and “new” means within the past 30 days, and “redeemed” means attached to the reservation.  Now I’m wondering if we reprice a cruise from one with the OBC attached through myvegas, will we lose it or be able to move it along with the next one.....I’m assuming lose it.....but doesn’t hurt to ask!

You can reprice and keep the OBC. We have done it many times.

And as it says, it's only for new bookings.  I tried to redeem a MyVegas 10% discount for a cruise I booked about a week ago, but was told I'd have to rebook my cruise in order to get the 10%.  Right now, refunds are non-refundable and we have a refundable so I'll have to wait and see what I can get (hopefully before the 30 days are up).

My TA is booking a RC for me on Monday for September 2024.

I am seeing the $100obc in my MV account (should be straightforward to get), however the 10% is there also and I am confused how this works. Does anyone have any experience?

You just have to have the OBC applied within the 30 days and the cruise has to be within one year.

After playing the silly game for years, I finally cashed out a bit and purchased the 10% wild card a few days ago. I already had a future cruise booked for a few months, but the price was nearly the same when I checked last week, so I put a hold on a room in the same category and called the number on the voucher. Ultimately, I canceled my refundable room and booked the one I had a hold on, saving me about $450.

I was confused about the process until I found this thread explaining it had to be booked through the number provided on the voucher and the sailing had to be within a year from the time of booking.

The 10% wild card was a far better deal for my booking than the onboard credit, but YMMV.
