We wear our mask when required, wash our hands frequently, do not touch our faces and keep a 6ft buffer when possible. I will not be reckless but I am not giving COVID a year of my life. As I said.....we do wear masks when required, but will not spend my life sitting at home... In many of our counties those activities are happening. We still don't have inside dining but a lot of places have take out or outside pavilions set up. Barbers/Salons still are outside only around here. Not sure what I could disagree with. Be safe. Our county says they don't want Trick-or-Treat this year. To me it seems like a pretty safe activity and anyone concerned can just keep their porch lights off. I expect that there will be lots of little urchins out in the neighborhood. Maybe they will dress up as essential workers with masks! haha. It is always a pretty big deal in our neighborhood. I normally enjoy seeing the little tykes all dressed up. This year is going to be weird because of the pandemic. I still haven't made up my mind whether to pass out treats or turn the porch lights off. Either way, I'm sure there will be lots of families out. What about y'all, are you doing sort of any travel until we can board our favorite mode of vacation? Simply focusing on what travel we can do. Fortunately your options for domestic travel in the US are quite broad and you can find lots to do - assuming you have an interest in other forms of travel. My current plan is another car trip in November. If HI drops its quarantine requirement, I may go there instead depending on what it looks like. I still don't have the nerve to go back to Mexico even though I know more and more people that are crossing again for tourism. It came out in 1936 and it is about the future, way into the future. It is remarkable as to how correct it was. My parents went to the Worlds Fair in 1939 and bought something which I still have.It is a vision of what the world will look like in 2000. iancal Posted September 21, 2020 #45 Share Posted September 21, 2020 (edited) No issue whatsoever. We do not anticipate taking another cruise until very late 2022 or 2023. We just adapt and move forward with other plans, other activities. No point in moping around feeling sorry for ourselves. This is a first world problem that has little impact on us. Realblonde474 Posted October 3, 2020 Author #46 Share Posted October 3, 2020 This morning, I was "cruising" the Celebrity website looking at upcoming cruise schedules.... We had a lovely time at the beach and things were pretty "normal" in SC. We are very careful with hand sanitizers and where a mask when we feel it's appropriate. Prayers to ya'll! Hopefully soon we will be cruising again! Donna

Civilization was all but wiped out by decades of war followed by plagues and decades of near tribal, primitive, existence — finally a sort of socialist super-state evolved. I recall thinking when I saw it at an “art house” (in my twenties) that I would be fortunate to not survive the first day of that war.

That’s the one - it eerily predicted a world war in which widespread bombing would destroy 20th Century civilization starting in 1940 (off by a year) —- of course, by 1936 Germany’s course was predictable to all but the most entrenched pacifists who were still reeling from their memories of 1914-1918 and were determined to avoid provoking Hitler at a time when he was not yet strong enough to go on his rampage.
