drsel Posted September 27, 2020 #1 Share Posted September 27, 2020 While you can still book Carnival Splendor in 2021 on carnival.com you cannot do so on the US online agents websites. Almost all Carnival Splendor Cruises in 2021 are not available on the US online agents websites. Does anyone know why? One such agent told me that he has to check with IT department. Have Carnival Splendor Cruises been cancelled in 2021?
Rare MicCanberra Posted September 27, 2020 #2 Share Posted September 27, 2020 Personal thoughts, the US TAs know they will not go ahead but the Aussie sites are still willing to take aussies' money.

NSWP Posted September 28, 2020 #4 Share Posted September 28, 2020 Maybe Carnival Splendor is leaving the fleet, sale or breakers yard. Why Splendor, why not the Queens English 'Splendour !!'

Ondine Posted September 28, 2020 #7 Share Posted September 28, 2020 I did read somewhere that Carnival Spirit was going into dry dock for modifications and that Carnival Splendor was to be used for transferring crew around. It was at the bottom of some Carnival announcement.

First cruise back to Brisbane. (Then from there 24/7/365). Splendor has cruises from early January 2021. (Until they get cancelled).

If you want to book a P&O Australia cruise, you'll probably find it easier booking through a local travel agent. The P&O website is not designed for overseas travellers (or wasn't when I last checked, unless they've changed it recently).
drsel Posted September 28, 2020 Author #19 Share Posted September 28, 2020 Yes, anyone can book them.https://www.pocruises.com.au/australiaHow does PO Australia compare with Carnival and Princess for Australia Cruises
The_Big_M Posted September 28, 2020 #20 Share Posted September 28, 2020 It's run by the same group, but a slightly more budget brand, in that a few extras are not included. It also has a younger crowd than Princess, and is slightly more party oriented. It's closer to Carnival US (especially the shorter cruises there) than Princess. That said, it also has some exotic itineraries which are longer e.g. Asia, Papua New Guinea which have an older, and closer atmosphere to Royal Caribbean. So there's a wide mix it caters to and it's not wildly different from the others but its emphasis is more towards fun, parties and activities. drsel Posted September 28, 2020 Author #21 Share Posted September 28, 2020 How many production shows on a cruise of 4 nights, 7 nights, 10 nights?
Rare MicCanberra Posted September 28, 2020 #22 Share Posted September 28, 2020 Most likely 1, 2 and 3 for those length cruises. There is entertainment every night though.
Rare OzKiwiJJ Posted September 29, 2020 #23 Share Posted September 29, 2020 I would suggest holding off on booking any more cruises at the moment for the following reasons: 1. There is no indication as to when cruising will commence again in Australia and NZ. 2. There is no indication as to when borders will open to international visitors. 3. When borders do open to international visitors it will be to specific countries only - New Zealand, and maybe some of the South Pacific countries like Fiji, that have zero cases of community Covid-19 transmission. The rest of the world probably won't be permitted into Australia or NZ until a vaccine is available and Covid-19 is under control. 4. When cruising does recommence it may be under very strict protocols, including only being permitted ashore at port stops on ship excursions, regular Covid-19 tests, masks to be worn in all public areas unless seated to eat or drink, and so on. Cruising as we used to know it may not happen for years yet.
drsel Posted September 29, 2020 Author #24 Share Posted September 29, 2020 I guess once the vaccine comes, they will just ask for a certificate that you have been vaccinated and that should be enough to board the flight and Cruise
