Lonedaddy Posted January 16, 2021 #1 Share Posted January 16, 2021 What Time do they usually have the shows in the theater? Is like other lines with a late and early show so you can eat before or after the show? thanks
travlr21 Posted January 16, 2021 #2 Share Posted January 16, 2021 In our experience, generally 1 show at 9:30PM. There are a few exceptions, crew show for example, and a couple of others that were earlier. 6 or so? Some nights there is no show, occasionally show a movie instead, first and last nights if I recall.
Rare wishIweretravelling Posted January 17, 2021 #3 Share Posted January 17, 2021 Those 2 shows a night are vestiges of set dinner seatings. In the 24 years I've been sailing Regent and its predecessors, dinner has always been open seating and there's been only one show time. It works. Thankfully, the theaters are large enough to accommodate one staging. And it's certainly easier on the performers.

We like to eat dinner late, usually 8:30, so that means we usually miss the show as we do not like to rush though eating. I know we may be in the minority in this, but we would be happy if the show would be at 10:00 pm instead.

When in port many of us are up early and would not go to a 10 show. Maybe they could try doing it a few nights of the cruise.
SusieQft Posted January 17, 2021 #6 Share Posted January 17, 2021 We like to eat early, and even 9:30 is later than we would prefer. With only one show (probably even if they did two shows), the timing is never going to please everyone.
Pcardad Posted January 17, 2021 #7 Share Posted January 17, 2021 Most of the people on the ship are asleep WAY before 11PM........and by 11:30 there are about 6 left in the bar. It's actually quite nice and you can have all sorts of fun with the crew.
Purdey16 Posted January 17, 2021 #8 Share Posted January 17, 2021 Wow that’s really early to go to bed when on holiday, is there anything else going on after the evening show ? We are doing our first regent cruise in 2023 and looking forward to it , we’re not party animals and normally in bed by midnight anyway on a cruise, but by reading some things on here dinner and shows are quite early in the evening, is there any other entertainment going on in other areas?
Pcardad Posted January 17, 2021 #9 Share Posted January 17, 2021 Most, if not all, shuts down by 11. Sometimes there is something in one of the lounges a bit later. After midnight, you could run from one end of the ship to the other nekkid and see no one. 2
flossie009 Posted January 17, 2021 #10 Share Posted January 17, 2021 After the evening show in the theatre, some of the following will be in one or more of the lounges: live music karaoke a dance party a quiz (liars club/call my bluff; name that tune) There is also the casino; or just a chat with others over drinks in one of the bars. .............. and if @Pcardadis on board you may catch sight of a streaker 😉 🤣 4
GOARMY Posted January 18, 2021 #11 Share Posted January 18, 2021 Some observations: On occasion, given a Regent ship's itinerary, there will be an early "Special Performance". This is separate and apart from the usual "Crew Kapers" show which occurs with regularity on the penultimate night during each segment. Example--aboard Explorer August-September 2019 (our most-recent cruise due to three subsequent 2020 Regent cancellations) on BtB Stockholm-Southampton; Southampton-Southampton segments. "Beatles' Night" early show around 1800H in the Main Theater, as best-recalled. We were on a tour that afternoon at Port Sunlight--a model village founded by the Lever Brothers (Soap) near Liverpool. Great tour, BTW, for anyone planning a segment which will include a stop at Liverpool. But, as usual: I digress. Given the location, and Beatles' history, the Cruise Director arranged for a local band to come aboard and reprise greatest hits. The talk on the van going back to Explorer was getting to the show. I sort-of sprinted from van to boarding ramp, and to a balcony section overlooking the stage. The Theater was already getting full, and this was 20 minutes before the start. Totally full to overflowing by showtime. It was a great 45-50 minute performance. Those guys were really, really good. Then, on to a cocktail before dinner. Second observation: As to a potential late-night streaker siting: given the demographics of Regent passengers, any such observation would be a "downer". Hope to see some of you aboard Mariner at Barcelona on October 31st. One can hope. GOARMY! 2
flossie009 Posted January 18, 2021 #12 Share Posted January 18, 2021 Here is an evening entertainment schedule from a Regent cruise in 2019: Sorry it is a bit blurry
Scout16 Posted January 18, 2021 #13 Share Posted January 18, 2021 My last cruise was in 2019, the 2020 and 2021 cruises were cancelled. I linked up through the Single & Social program. My cruise was the last segments of a world cruise so i was able to meet several of the world cruisers, but as part of this group we met most of the special entertainers. This caused me to attend several shows which I normally would not have gone to, this included skipping a desert or two to be on time for the show. There are opportunities outside of the Single & Social group to meet the various entertainers and lecturers, but the Single & Social group is one of the easiest and we had several couples join in on my last cruise. I just hope that by 2023 these gatherings will be able to meet normally again.
