Jennizor Posted March 16, 2021 #701 Share Posted March 16, 2021 Thanks for all the brilliant photos, just spent 15 mins browsing through the latest ones. Brought back lots of happy memories. We joined the cruise, I think it was on Arcadia (quite some years ago) in Acapulco. We had a full day there and went to watch the cliff divers, they were amazing. Then sailed through the Panama Canal to the Caribbean. There was a lovely lady giving a running commentary throughout the passage, only stopping for a quick lunch. She was so interesting, everyone was spellbound she was so good.
Izzywiz Posted March 16, 2021 #702 Share Posted March 16, 2021 Hi Ardennais, I've enjoyed your photos very much so sad to see you go but have a safe trip home. We first visited Punta Arenas in 2004 on a repositioning cruise from Los Angeles to Miami. We were much fitter in those days and so enjoyed more adventurous activities. We did a fabulous 'white water' rafting excursion on the Rio Tenorio which was great fun and not particularly scary....
Izzywiz Posted March 16, 2021 #703 Share Posted March 16, 2021 We returned to Punta Arenas in October 2019 and booked a private excursion out into the countryside. The port....

Izzywiz Posted March 16, 2021 #705 Share Posted March 16, 2021 Our driver tailor-made the tour so we spent most of our time at the various nature reserves.. Dona Ana reserve The Jungle Crocodile Safari was wonderful because there were only 2 of in our boat (the ship's tour boat was full!) so we were able to do more bird watching than crocodile spotting

Aulanis Posted March 16, 2021 #709 Share Posted March 16, 2021 (edited) Here we go again this is a 2 hour walk to the lighthouse & back. ( well it was for us) but included the Church and the Art place. There were more lamp posts and maybe 20 more sculptures that I have deleted. The chicken Picture is interesting as it is partly painted and the Chickens are stitched! I am not sure where everyone is - 2 ships in a small place ? maybe all in bars. Or maybe rushed off to buy the property needing slight renovation. Not sure what happened there- these last few are out of order but its a bit tricky to move them. Ardennais Posted March 16, 2021 #710 Share Posted March 16, 2021 I don’t really know how to get home as I’m not keen on flying so I’ll probably stay onboard and relax! 2

Rare DamianG Posted March 17, 2021 #712 Share Posted March 17, 2021 (edited) In Huatulco we took a private boat tour to a deserted beach and various coastline sites before the pilot dropped us off at his friends beach side cafe. I remember it was a lovely lunch, seems like it was so good we dudn't take any photos. On the return journey there were so many pelicans flying around that I asked our pilot what the Spanish name for them was. He then very slowly and deliberately spelt out "Pel-i-can-o!" 😃 Back in port we strolled around and had a look at the open plan church. Aulanis Posted March 17, 2021 #714 Share Posted March 17, 2021 (edited) No chilling out for us we walked to the town a bit inland 40 minutes or so but it seemed longer in the heat and it is uphill both ways! ??? I think it is a fairly new path - dual carriagway LOL with seats trees & plants - so a bit of shade. A few pics in there is a painting on a wall - there is quite afew of them I will post later. The wall is alongside a football pitch & sports place on side and stream along the other side. The lane is a shortcut to the town but we didnt know that and went the long way but returned via the lane. Aulanis Posted March 18, 2021 #717 Share Posted March 18, 2021 Good morning, we had a great day yesterday and when we returned to the ship they had just set out a celebratory display in the atrium. In real life maybe it was to cheer us up a bit as a year ago today we left our ship 8 days into a 26 day round Australia cruise 😞
Izzywiz Posted March 18, 2021 #718 Share Posted March 18, 2021 Morning all....it is great to have so many companions to share days on board. Huatulco looked very interesting so I have added it as a port to visit one day. Now to Cabo San Lucas.....we first visited in 2004 as part of my retirement trip but I haven't many pictures from that time. Our second visit was in 2019 when we experienced the most spectacular sail-in

Dermotsgirl Posted March 18, 2021 #723 Share Posted March 18, 2021 Cabo looks nice. I'm guessing it might be a bit Americanised, as, in books set in the US, they always go to Cabo for their holidays (sorry, vacations)
Izzywiz Posted March 19, 2021 #724 Share Posted March 19, 2021 Dermotsgirl, you are absolutely right....Cabo is very Americanised but the natural beauty of the rock formations is unspoilt and the beaches are very nice too. Our Celebrity 2019 cruise ended in San Diego. Our flight to the Uk didn't leave until the early evening so we did the ship's tour of the area with the airport drop-off which was very convenient and gave us a good oversight of the city. It is the home of the US Pacific fleet so there were a few warships in port. The city is modern and typically American...
