S-class Table(s) for Twelve?

Six couples are sailing together on the Silhouette. Ideally we would like to be at two round  tables served by the same wait staff so that we can mingle interchangeably. I’ve been looking at a deck plan of the dining room under a magnifying glass and do not find this to be a possibility, although not all tables are shown that are covered by the restaurant name on the lower level. The only table for 12 I can see is the former Captains Table.

Has any Celebrity cruiser sailed with this size group, and if so, please offer any advice and suggestions for us, thanks!

The tables are, for the most part, not fixed to the floor, and many have fold-down extenders (like a drop-leaf table has) so a four top can become a six top.  The point is, the drawings you see are only approximations, they do not represent the real dining room.

I’ve seen 2 tables of 6 before, it should be no problem.  Probably easier if you have traditional dining so they don’t have to rearrange tables every evening.

We did manage to get traditional for all, though of the four initially booked couples  two were select. When they called to be moved to traditional they were “waitlisted” but when we went to link our reservations a week or so later Voila! we all were early dining.

Yes & we did get a table for twelve, but if doing it again I would go for 2 tables of 6 which should be no problem.  Have your TA phone Dining Co-ordinater for the ship you are on about 21 days before the cruise & they will arrange it for you.  Then when you get on the ship check with the maître’d to double check that this has been done.  A table of 12 is too large to talk to everyone & we found it slower service.

On our last trip on S class there was a large multi generational group not far from us, at least a dozen people, so a few tables together, and they all seemed to mingle.

Actually was a wonderful sight.  Very old gentleman always in his white dinner jacket, surrounded by lots of smiling happy people, lots of chatter. He seemed so pleased.  Sadly did not appear to be a wife there, just assume the old boy was taking all his kids and grandkids on a grand voyage.

We've seen this often.  Two large tables, and on one occasion, the diners changed seats every night at their table and the next so it appeared they were able to enjoy all the group's company at one night or another.  They seemed to have a seating schedule arranged.Your TA or X Rep could note your request and when you arrive onboard, visit the dining room.  The M'd will let you know which tables they've booked for you;  if they're not aware of the situation he'll set it up for you.

We (The Original Martini Mates) have done it numerous times. We have had as many as 18 of us with many table configurations. Our best were on Solstice on her ninth voyage back in 2009. We had three tables for four next to each other, one awesome waiter and switched back and forth every night. Another time we had 18 and had a table for eight next to a table for ten. That one got a little noisy but still fun.

As others have said it is VERY possible. First you need to have early or late seating. Doing this at Select every night is a pain and doesn't always work.

Then have all your reservations linked together. Have your TA do that. That always makes it easier. That way they will know you are coming. Then as soon as you board, one of two of you should go to the dining room to confirm that everything is set up. We didn't do this once and we spent three days putting it all back together.

Hope this helps.

We had twelve people in our group for a 2019 sailing.  Although we had Select dining and had set up different times for dinner based on the times we were in port.  Once onboard the ship, the Maitre'd requested that we dine at the same time every night so that they could set up two tables for six with the same wait staff for all of us.  That is what we did.  He also requested that we let them know ahead of time if any of us had reservations for the specialty restaurants so that they could adjust things accordingly.  On some nights, one or more couples chose to go to the buffet, and we also informed the Maitre'd on those nights.  When the number of people were reduced, we usually were given a larger table that would seat everyone who remained in the MDR.  We preferred the tables for six over the larger tables as it was much easier to have conversations.  All of the tables were in the same area so that we could have the same wait staff (who were excellent).
