Have you heard of "pack for a purpose"

Recommended Posts

I have never heard of this.  I happened upon it while reading a review on

a different websit.  You go to pack for a purpose website, pick a destination,

and pick a purpose. Ex school supply's, pet care, medical (band aides kind of things)

health (toothbrushes ect.)  Ex, pick  school supply's for pre-schoolers,

fill a back pack, they tell you where you can drop it off, on whatever island

your visiting. . We hit the same islands every year, and mainly never get off the ship.

Now we can bring a back pack each fill it with literally $20 worth of supplies, and thats

being full if you look for sales, especially right before school starts.  I love the

saying they use " Small space: Little Effort, Big Impact."

Just an FYI.

This is ideal for us because we don't fly to the ports.

This is a great idea. Even if you are flying in to debarkation, could still stop on the way at a school supply store (i.e. Office Depot). During covid, many stores even let you order ahead for pickup in store, so everything would be ready.

I know many packed backpacks of school supplies when we went to roatan to drop off on private excursions. I hacent seen this organized though. Just done it on my own.

I did that one year on Voyager long time ago, packed a shoe box full of kid stuff in Roatan, so fun.

We packed duffle bags of OTC meds for our 2 cruises to Cuba. We had specific suggestions for the second trip and dropped the bags at local neighborhood pharmacies

My husband and went through two different immigration lines so the items would not be seized. When asked, we told them they were “gifts”. We were told donations were often confiscated.
