Just some perspective. You pay thousands to cruise. 15 bucks a drink, blow money in casino and a 15 dollar coaster ride is where the line gets drawn? Lmao! Lets be real. Everything is overpriced top to bottom. Lets not say its the coaster that did it for you. Just sayin, kind of rediculous

What you don't seem to realize is that many of us don't pay thousands to take a cruise or blow $15 on a drink or gamble. So the line is already drawn, it's just being extended.

Many of us have learned to cruise cheaply.

Who? Me? Naaaahh...

And that is your prerogative. I'd rather have more days at sea than a more luxurious experience at sea. Not to mention, I just simply don't have the bank account to go hog wild on a cruise, especially with as many as I've taken.

My sarcasm didn't get thru....sorry!

I totally agree with your expressed sentiment.

Clearly, we are both the last of the big time spenders, huh?! lol

For what it's worth, NCL charges $15 per go-kart session. They have no problem filling the sessions to near capacity, which is no doubt why the brand new Prima-class ships will also include a go-kart track.

No guarantee that Carnival will have the same success at that price point, but heck, I'd pay it without hesitation.

Ok - it's $15. I had asked on the Prima thread (65 odd pages) and a couple people indicated it was $10. Guess it went up !

Thanks

Dunno why anyone is surprised it's 3x the price of what it would cost on land. Haven't you seen the prices of everything else ever offered on a cruise? Lol. I'll prolly do it once just to try it but not something I'd do repeatedly. Same with the ropes course and that's free!

So you're taking out your dislike for a company policy, one done for your safety and welfare, on the innocent room steward?

WOW

If that's how you wish to interpret my words, so be it. It's not like I asked for nor need your approval anyway.

I think it looks like fun. I would like to see it as an unlimited add on to the drink package. They could sell it as Cheers and Fears.

Not allowed to ride if drinking alcohol. Not sure how they would know you were drinking unless you were fall-down drunk.

Not really.  If a person likes to drink and is willing to pay the $15, that's their prerogative.  If riding on the Bolt isn't that interesting to them, then not spending the $15 to ride it is also their choice.  How many times have you seen something that you were interested in buying until you found out what it cost?  Then, all of a sudden it wasn't something that you really wanted after all.

I heard this quote recently:

"If you think something is too expensive, that just means you really don't want it that much."

$15 would be worth it if you went around a few times, but the ride is only 15-20 seconds long, so $15 per person is not a good value. As a matter of fact, it's another Carnival rip-off.

Supposedly it's 2 laps per ride.

Not a ripoff as you know what the cost is and what you receive for the cost when you elect to do it and you are not required to do it if you don't want to pay the cost.

This. I can remember being younger and not having much expendable income, and seeing all the things I thought I would buy if I had money. Now that I have more money, I wouldn't spend money on half of those things I thought I would.

I would probably ride Bolt at least once - maybe once every time I sailed on Mardi Gras since it is such a novelty. But, to each his own!

In Las Vegas, the Big Apple Coaster at New York-New York is $19-23, depending on the time of day--and it doesn't have an ocean view. Plus, it's a terrible, rough coaster! $15 is fine to me.

Lol, The Big Apple roller coaster is a true roller coaster and is totally worth the price. It is also closed for 2 and a half weeks this December for refurbishment, so maybe they will smooth it out some. I never thought it was rough to begin with.

Sailed the MG in early Sept, on the 1st port day we were just walking around the empty ship and saw there wasn't a line for the Bolt.  So, no line, no wait, no hassle.  Went around twice, very exhilarating,

I heard that when crowded at peak demand, riders were getting only one circuit.

Was worth the $15 IMO for these circumstances.  but I wouldn't wait on a line for it.  Some think it's priced too high. Everyone has their own preferences and whether they consider it a fair deal or a waste of money, it's all good for a voluntary enjoyment.

It's not like tipping.

Looking back on all the black/green chips I "donated" without much consideration at Blackjack tables in years past... well... I should just pony up the $15 for BOLT and consider it a good use of $ (where one actually gets something for their dollar) !
