AtlantaCruiser72 Posted August 3, 2021 #1 Share Posted August 3, 2021 A few weeks ago HAL announced in their weekly travel agent newsletter that Alaska 2023 sailings would be available for booking. While we still don’t have exact itinerary details, or an on-sale date I have done some sleuthing (based on last sailings published for each vessel) and it seems to be a typical 6 ship deployment - Westerdam and Eurodam to Seattle, Konigsdam, Volendam, Nieuw Amsterdam and Noodam to Vancouver. I’m assuming all 7 night sailings like the 2022 season with Volendam representing a capacity decrease from Vancouver for 2023 (on the 7nt round trip Vancouver sailings) vs Zuiderdam in 2022. I am sadly doubtful the 14 day from Seattle or Vancouver will return for 2023. If this holds then we have 5 ships left - Zaandam to Canada/NE and Voyage of the Vikings, and Oosterdam, Zuiderdam, Nieuw Statendam and Rotterdam to Europe. Again I expect itineraries to be a similar cut/paste/copy of 2022. As the saying goes - WATCH THIS SPACE….. 2

AtlantaCruiser72 Posted August 3, 2021 Author #6 Share Posted August 3, 2021 HAL deployment announcements follow less of a standard pattern than any of their peers, and the COVID world has turned all deployment announcement patterns on their heads. HAL generally just releases new sailings with little to no fanfare, then a month or two, or three, or five, later they have a hoop-de-do announcement about what’s already been available for some time. I can’t figure out the methodology behind things with them, and not sure they can either. LOL

If we need to cancel our 2022 Baltics, I'd like to see 2023 itineraries before final payment which is in mid-January.

Alberta Quilter Posted August 10, 2021 #13 Share Posted August 10, 2021 Huh. I can't see any Alaska itineraries for 2023 yet. I'd be interested in the ones that go to Prince Rupert (only because I've never been there).

For those able bodied people I HIGHLY recommend reserving with Kodiak Island Taxi at (907) 486-2515 (assuming they are still ok post-Covid) or indy_jones101@hotmail.com For $20 per CARLOAD each way TO Ft. Abercrombe (takes 6-7 in a Ford Expedition) for a 15-20 minute drive to the park for some AWESOME trails and a great day. When you are ready to go back to the ship either arrange ahead of time OR call when you are ready again. Gates open at 9am to the Fort so we got picked up around 8:30. Super cheap private excursion for many hours of entertainment. Don't be put off by the rain.....can stop at any time. Pack your umbrella, water, t-paper, camera and happy disposition. Bonnie can also assist 🙂 Dont forget to stop at the Kodiak Island Brewing Company for a brew. We have also done
Grandma7 Posted August 11, 2021 #18 Share Posted August 11, 2021 Have never been on Noordam. In just looking at the deck plans, I don’t see a BB King's lounge. Is that Queen's lounge where BB King performs??

travelholics Posted August 11, 2021 #20 Share Posted August 11, 2021 2023 Alaska are now up on the HAL site. Do not se any mention of stop in Prince Rupert, though, on the September Noordam 14 day sailing, it shows 2 days at sea after leaving Ketchikan. Still very interested as had our Maasdam 14 day Alaska cancelled last year.
atexsix Posted August 11, 2021 #21 Share Posted August 11, 2021 Wish they'd do the 14 days out of Seattle like the old Amsterdam did, cruising out of Vancouver is a pain, and will probably have yet more covid requirements to meet. No thanks.

Grandma7 Posted August 11, 2021 #24 Share Posted August 11, 2021 Just booked, too. Did not see that we would stop in Prince Rupert when I was booking. After reading up about things to do I was getting excited about seeing the grizzly bears at the Khutzeymateen Valley tour, but it turns out they stop the end of July. I am sure I can find something to do. So glad to stop somewhere different!
