Plus they just sent this to someone on our cruise for the 14th basically have 2 days to get a test they count the day of sailing. Which is stupid that makes it 48 hrs to get tested . Typical right hand doesn’t know what the left hand is doing.

I find this interesting that it’s more restricted than international travel.  Test day is day zero on most testing procedures

Spoke to my pvp today. According to him day of cruise counts.  So for our August 28 MG test would have be Thursday or Friday.  Traveling Friday so Thursday.  Antigen for vaccinated PCR for non vaccinated. Hope this helps.

Crap we are going to seaworld/discovery cove the week before we cruise on Mardi Gras on the 21st.  The good news is there is a cvs 1/2 mile from the hotel.  However, it is drive through only, I wonder if the uber driver will get pissed for a family of four to pile into their car to get covid tested.

I personally would do everything I could to avoid a drive thru test. I don't know if you are familiar with them but they hand you a baggie of supplies and you perform the test yourself. I had been tested twice before for medical procedures so I knew how the test was done, so when I got symptoms I used the CVS drive-thru to do my test. It came back "inconclusive" two days later. I would hate for one of you to not do the sample correctly and have this issue. (When I went for a second test on the date my inconclusive was returned I was indeed positive.)

That makes no sense. Look at it this way - if you are getting on the ship at noon on Saturday, then noon on Friday is 24 hours (or one day) before. Noon on Thursday is 48 hours (or two days) before. Noon on WEDNESDAY is 72 hours (or three days) before.

I’m on Vista. Captain just announced mask policy is effective immediately. There are positive Covid passengers and they are all vaccinated passengers with little or no symptoms. Smoking will be prohibited inside everywhere.

There's gonna be a mutiny.

So glad they are adapting to what is actually going on in the United States instead of putting there head in the sand and acting like everything is fine.  A month ago in North Carolina we had 330 new cases of the virus.  Today we had 3,300.  New information calls for new protocols.  I really hope this masking indoors will keep the anti mask crowd off the ship for a while and maybe the cruise industry can get back to normal.  I am just keeping my fingers crossed that my Christmas cruise will still happen.

This is a huge plus if fleet-wide. Non-smoking casinos!

I get that the cruise lines are just trying to be safe, but I wish that more people had the attitude of vaccine = no masking anymore. On a cruise where pretty much everyone is vaccinated... who cares about a mask?

The Delta variant has changed the game on the vaccine.  New information calls for new policies.

Do you know how many are positive and why were they tested?   Did they make an announcement about the positives?

I have found the same as you about Walgreens here in Colorado. CVS does not offer testing in Colorado. I am nervous about getting a PCR test on a Friday and getting the results in time to sail on Monday. We sail on the 16th. How do we get in touch with someone at carnival who can actually answer our questions?

I just tried googling COVID antigen test near me. It pulled up several urgent care clinics that conduct the antigen tests with results in thirty minutes. The downside is there is a fee, and I could not tell if insurance would cover it. According to a different person's post their PVP stated that the day of cruise departure counts as day three of the time period. We may end up going this route if the testing requirement is still in place in late September

I asked on Johns Page to clarify for me and thankfully he answered, PCR or Rapid is fine if you are Vaccinated and if the results are emailed you can either show it on your phone or print the results out. Plenty of places near me offer the Rapid test so Just gonna do that on Thursday the 19th.

Anyone know what the raid antigen test is like i.e. cvs or walgreens. Is this the one that goes way up your nose or something else? Thanks

That is explained on CVS's website. What to expect, etc.

Thanks but they never said anything except they would give the swab to the patient who would do it him/herself with instructions. My son has my wifes nose which means it bleeds heavily all the time and would be bad with a deep swab.

I'm suppose to do a side to side in October. Any idea if they are still going to be doing the testing at the port to ensure I can get on the second leg of the cruise?

Is the second half of the side by side also on Carnival? On current B2B's testing is provided by Carnival.  I would call and see if you could get tested by them at the end of your first leg.

We cruise at the end of September on a Saturday and have appointments with Kaiser for PCR testing on Wednesday. I found a couple of CVS locations not too far from our pre-cruise hotel. I am considering making appointments there for antigen testing, just in case.

  Hi,

I listened to John Heald live this morning. I noted he said “Antigen Test”.  Is the PCR test the same, just a different word for the same test?
I left an email at Kaiser for my Primary Care Physician. I guess she’s on vacation till next week. But, we’re good …. Not cruising till September (also a Saturday).
Just wanted to give you a heads up …. In case these are 2 different tests. I guess either way you are covered. 🙂

The question is if ALL rapid tests are acceptable.  Since some rapid tests are not antigen, are both NAAT and antigen rapid tests acceptable?  Here, it seems only the NAAT are available through the pharmacies.

Going on Vista 8/14.  Already vaccinated.  Sounds like a quick antigen test will be required.

Any confirmation regarding the existing sailing whether there is positive cases onboard or was the announcement for passengers due to the policy change?  What happens when passengers on board positive will they return ship for deep cleaning or just fluff up the stuff and load the next batch of passengers?

That is sound advice, thank you.  I have never self administered, we do pool testing at work so I have had one done by the nurse.  Looks like 4ish miles from the hotel is a cvs that does rapid testing and has a minute clinic, we will get dropped off there by an uber (says you do not need a car) and do the rapid test then wait for the results to make sure they are not inconclusive, then Uber back to the hotel.  Not exactly how I anticipated spending an evening of my vacation but better safe than sorry.  I appreciate the advice.

Same here.

To me, it's not that big a thing. You go to a show, you wear a mask. Not that hard.

In a bar drinking, no mask...what changed?

Out by pool, no mask....what changed?

In the pool, no mask....what changed?

Big deal you wear a mask in the casino, unless you're drinking....everyone is drinking in the casino

Does anyone really believe they're going to have mask police yelling at you?

Y'all keep saying 99.9999% indoors, but how much is that when you're NOT eating or drinking? When you don't have a plate or a glass in front of you?

Also, this is all super fluid, it could change in a couple weeks as this Delta thing fades away.

Lastly, I can speak for the Port Canaveral area that there are CVS' and Walgreens' all over. Off top of my head, I can think of three of each within a few mile radius of the port.

I don't think this is that bad and likely will change in a few weeks, maybe not for my upcoming, but soon thereafter

Yes I believe the multi billion dollar company is going to enforce the mask policy.  I know many want to believe that because they don't like the policy they can just ignore it.  Many also think if they can't enforce chair hogging how are they going to enforce the masks.  My answer would be that the chair hogging situation couldn't shut down the entire industry and the Virus can.

People commenting on JH's announcement that if cruisers don't want to wear a mask, then fine - just cancel and don't go.

They don't seem to understand that if Carnival can't sail at a particular percentage of occupancy then they won't sail. They've already severely limited families with young children. Now they are reducing their pool of available cruisers again. I believe there is some pent up demand for cruising right now, and I know that there are die hard cruisers who will go whatever the policies are - but can they go enough to keep Carnival (and the other lines) afloat??

Be happy to cancel ....as long as I get a full refund.  It's supposed to be fun , not an exercise in wearing useless face diapers for virtue signalling
