OBC from repricing after final payment

Hi All,

I was able to save $100 on repricing my cruise after final payment and it was applied as OBC.

Does anyone have any experience with this showing up in the cruise planner? I had my OBC from my credit card points show up today and this made me curious if I need to call and check in on the $100.

Sailing 9/5 if that helps with any timeframe issues I may be facing.

I got 250.00 OBC from a price drop last week and it showed up in the CP the next morning.  Ive already used some of it reserving the UDP

Well that led me to call, apparently it takes 14 business days to be approved and posted. I guess you got lucky and I didn’t!

Yep, 14 days is what they told us too when we called yesterday for a price drop on our Oct cruise. Might be the standard line they tell everyone, but could show up earlier than that idk.

Have you checked your Planner today yet?   Mine was definitely there the next morning  🙂

I also have received OBC after final payment.  It is showing up in the cruise planner.  My problem is hard to believe, but I can't possible spend all of it onboard.  Can I apply it to a future cruse at the Next Cruise desk?  Can I get it out as cash at the casino?  Will I get a refund at the end of the cruise for any unused OBC?  I know, hard to believe right.

Great question! I'm interested to see the answer to this, ive never been in such a situation with toooo much OBC. I know you can charge slot play to your cabin acct, so i wonder if you did that and then cashed out to get the cash 🤔

You can't use it for next cruise bookings and it's non-fundable as per the T&Cs.

With that in mind, consider cancelling anything you've pre-paid, such as gratuities, dining packages, etc., because this will generate a refund to your original form of payment, so you will recoup that cash. Then rebook using the OBC or in the case of gratuities these will be automatically charged to your account and come out of the OBC. If you still money left over towards the end of the cruise and you can't get it through the casino, hit the onboards shops. It's better to spend it on gifts for yourself or others than lose it.

Hi @AlanLW9, I am on the August 21, 2021 Adventure of the Seas, had a price drop last month and was told 14 business days which would have been last Monday , August 16. Checked August 17, still not in my cruise planner, called RCL and after 2 hours finally got posted. RCL agent said they had to get a supervisor to try and get it posted. Agent could see it was over 14 business days, but could not explain why it was not posted.

If not posted by 14th business day, call! I was hoping it would get posted earlier as I have read some get it posted very quickly within a day or two, but my experience was I had to call. I did use a TA, but it seems even using TA, people have had the OBC posted quickly.

To address a few of the questions:

I got a price reduction for my 11/7 Anthem cruise on 8/18. The OBC was in my cruise planner in less than 24 hours.

The advice given about canceling any prepaids to use an excess of OBC is a good one. I once put $200 OBC into a casino credit the next to last night of the cruise. I played a total of $5.00 on video poker and cashed out - for cash! I seem to remember there was some small casino charge associated with the transaction.

It seems it’s so random now the cruise lines are doing the OBC for price drops.  We have a cruise in October and had to call after 14 days to get it applied.  It had to be escalated to a supervisor.  My sister did the same, and was told it would show up in her account by the second day of the cruise.  They wouldn’t budge on this.

We had this happen to us. I’m not sure about the casino, but we ended up buying liquor since we weren’t flying to the port.

I had a few cruise planner items totaling about $300 that I was able to cancel and rebook using the OBC I recently got from a repricing on my October '21 Harmony cruise.  Now I'm back down to a more-reasonable $75 in OBC which I'll be bringing on to the ship to pay for random oddities I might want/need, or to use it in the casino.  🙂 For my upcoming cruise the prices had just dropped back to where they were during the last big sale so it was a no-brainer to cancel and rebook them using OBC.  My credit card will be happy once the $300 is put back on it!

Can you tell me where exactly in the cruise planner to find OBC?  We called about our 9/11 sailing and were given $267!  But I’d sure like to confirm it.

I had a reprice after final payment on a Celebrity cruise, which goes through RC's price guarantee, and I was told the difference will be available only onboard, not prior in Cruise Planner.  This was about 2 weeks ago and cruise is next week.

I also had received a $100 OBC as a bonus and that was available via Cruise Planner but I had to apply it to dining, excursions, whatever BEFORE the cruise otherwise I would lose it.

Don't wait.

I emailed my agent again, because yes, it's now dropped again. I am due $1,126.56 in OBC for a 7 night Ovation sailing next month. Relatives in a second cabin also due the same.

The agency is responsive to emails, can't get through on the phone. Royal resolutions told me a note was put in my file. Umm, what? Show me the money. Tomorrow is day 14, but that was two price drops ago.

I didn't make their rules, they did. I'm only asking for what they said they would do. This isn't $100. I've got three excursions booked I would like to cancel and rebook using my OBC. And use for my gratuities. And if this keeps going maybe the drinks package.

If this ever gets worked out, is OBC refundable to my credit card on file, or must we spend it onboard? I'm sure my husband would be happy to donate part of it back to the casino if we can't get refunded but I'm hoping we can cash out or something at the end.

The OBC is NOT refundable
