rebric Posted September 16, 2021 #1 Share Posted September 16, 2021 Now that the casino does not allow smoking for people drinking at the casino bar, does anyone know if there are any indoor smoking areas on the Dream?
Rare 1025cruise Posted September 17, 2021 #2 Share Posted September 17, 2021 You may smoke in the casino, when its open and you are playing. Otherwise, I believe that's it.
dallasdan Posted September 17, 2021 #3 Share Posted September 17, 2021 I was on the Breeze last month and people were smoking at the casino bar, even when the casino was closed.

Anxious to see how it’s going to be on Magic October 7 with the new rule in place. In August on Magic, it was horrible walking thru the casino before departure! As we say here in the south, it could choke a mule!

The new policy took effect on September 13. Fingers crossed that at some point going outside to designated areas will be required for all...

Not likely if it would impact casino revenue. As I suspect it would.
CruisingFromLA Posted September 18, 2021 #12 Share Posted September 18, 2021 I am not a smoker, but I wish Carnival would build a cigar lounge for smokers and make the casino smoke free instead. There is wayyyyy too many smokers not gambling in the casino taking up seats in front of the machines.

Fact is, even non-smokers are known to have a cigarette while drinking. People who are gambling are typically drinking and therefore, smoking. Carnival tried smoke free cruises and they failed miserably. If you want to pay the Celebrity fees, sail on Celebrity. They charge those rates because they're no relying on casino revenue

I think it would change it for sure, but in places (e.g. Colorado, New Orleans) where smoking is banned inside casinos, there was no corresponding revenue drop (smokers who can’t not left at the same time people who avoided the smoke came in…).

Why do you think Vista started allowing smoking again? Casino revenue fell when it went 100% non-smoking. They blamed COVID, but if it made the same revenue as it did when it allowed smoking, it would not have gone back.

That's cool, but if you asked them any other time, they'd say they're a non-smoker....just saying Some folks vape and they only vape when drinking, they like the flavors. Not everyone who vapes does the big choo-choo train clouds. Some vape right by you and you'll never know. Some folks vape weed or CBD, right next to you, and you'll never know.

From John Heald's lips... the money we smokers spend in the casino makes it possible for you non smokers to be able to afford to vacation on Carnival. Smokers outspend nonsmokers in casinos by hundreds of percent. Instead of complaining about smoke inside the casino... you should be going up to a smoker and telling them thank you. They funded your vacation. It's true that gamblers, and to a lesser extent heavy drinkers, spa users, art buyers, etc. considerably subsidize the cruise price those of us not doing those things. I don't know whether there is a strong correlation between how much a gambler spends and them smoking, but it wouldn't surprise me if that's the case. Perhaps being susceptible to one addiction makes it more likely to also be addicted to another, hence a correlation between smoking and gambling.
Rare EngIceDave Posted September 19, 2021 #22 Share Posted September 19, 2021 As a non-smoker, you ever tried one? That weird almost nauseous buzz you get? That's why non's smoke occasionally and while drinking, it's just part of the buzz. That said, buzzed up gamblers is to the house's edge, why do you think they're so willing to ply you with free drinks? The bigger the gambler the better the booze brands and the stronger the drinks. Happy buzzed players are good for the casino
Bevv Posted September 19, 2021 #23 Share Posted September 19, 2021 FYI We got off the Breeze on Sept 18th. There are now two casinos on the Breeze. One smoking and one non-smoking. We saw both casinos multiple times. The smoking casino always had a lot of action going on. The most people I ever saw in the non-smoking casino at one time was half a dozen. The non-smoking casino did not have a bar connected and that could have been one of the deciding factors.
Bostwick girl Posted September 20, 2021 #24 Share Posted September 20, 2021 The non smoking casino on Magic last month was always busy, there was a bar but mostly for the drink servers who were very good. Only problem with it to me is the smaller size doesn’t have as many of the fun slots. We would just go to the big casino in the mornings when it was open on sea days before it got too crowded. Will be interesting to see how it is when we go again in 2 weeks!
dallasdan Posted September 20, 2021 #25 Share Posted September 20, 2021 I was on the Breeze last month and the non smoking casino was practically empty. Most gamblers had no idea there was a non smoking casino down on level 4. Most people don't walk down that way. Carnival did not promote the non smoking casino.
