Okay, here's a different version of this question.  I'm not a gambler, so not familiar with how this works other than what I've seen posted here.

I'm doing five consecutive cruises in Nov/Dec.  I'd prefer not to bring all my cash (for tips and excursions that don't take credit cards) with me for all five cruises, but I'm also cheap (frugal, whatever you want to call it) and don't want to pay huge ATM fees, etc.

Can I just charge $500 to my room account on a slot machine, cash it out, and they'll charge it to my credit card on file like any other purchase without a surcharge?  Would it show as a "cash advance" (and trigger fees from my credit card company)?

We do that always.  We do have club royal status, so there is no 5% charged.  Our credit cards have never charged for a cash advance fee (on a cruise ship)

You will be charged a 5% fee by cashier at casino unless you are a casino prime or higher member.  Cheaper to pay ATM fee.

But I'm not talking about doing it at the cashier, I'm talking about doing the slot machine version of charging to the room account, like people have been doing to cash out their non-refundable OBC.

Some ships are not on the system that I posted the Slot Machine direction picture
What ship(s) are you sailing on?
You can also do it per cruise, or a few times per cruise so you aren't holding too much cash

My cruises are Freedom (4 day), Symphony (7 day), Allure (8 day and 6 day) and Jewel (6 day).

I was thinking maybe take enough cash along for Freedom and Symphony, then do my "withdrawal" towards the end of Symphony to take onto Allure, and then if I need more for Jewel, I can do one more at the end of my two weeks on Allure.

I also have a day off between the end of Allure in FLL and the start of Jewel in MIA, so I could always have my Uber stop so I can hit an ATM at a credit union for a minimal fee withdrawal.

I'm obviously not broke or afraid to spend money (I have 19 cruises booked right now! LOL).  I just hate spending money unnecessarily -- I'd much rather give a $6 tip to a waiter or room attendant than pay $6 in fees to some faceless banking corporation.

The only ship I would question having the system is Jewel

I'm with you, I would rather give money to a person then to a computer system and not know where that money actually goes

That's why I figure I'll get enough on Allure to get me through Jewel.

Yes I understand that as you would request the withdrawal at a slot then take the ticket to the casino cashier to get the cash.   Internally it is different than cashing out an OBC and that is why I believe you will be charged the 5% transaction fee.

I've always taken the ticket to the redemption machine and gotten the cash there, as I would for any redemption ticket spit out from a slot machine.  Only time I ever really paid a price was when the machine was out of big bills and I ended up with a wad of $5s..and my price was only the inconvenience of trying to zip my wallet up.

Yes that machine is an option to cash in a slot ticket.   I have always been told by casino staff that if you use a slot machine like an Atm  to get cash from seapass account, not obc, there will be a 5% charge added onto your seapass account.

I have been prime casino member for a couple of years so I dont get charged a fee but non casino members usually get charged unless they are waiving that these days.

I haven't had the 5% charged yet. It shows up as a room charge as casino entertainment or something similar. Then at the end of the cruise you just have the single charge for whatever your onboard account balance is.

I have had it disable the slot machine room charge option for me before though. On my last cruise both my brother and I did it and then the next day he wasn't able to do it again but mine was still working. His was enabled again later on in the cruise.  I do tell folks to expect the 5% charge and then be pleasantly surprised if you don't get charged.
