This is a quote from the RCI website regarding the Concierge Lounge. 

 

Does this mean that from 5 - 830pm there is no bartender? 

Surely not. 

 

What has been your experience with this self service bar?

No. That language has been there as long as I can remember but there's hasn't been an honor bar as long as I can remember.

I remember the Mariner Concierge Lounge honor bar - in 2005!

 

They sure keep the website updated.

I have never seen an honor bar in the Concierge Lounge.  I thought this was a new thing.  😍

Never seen it. But on a European cruise in 2005 the bartender was late in getting there and they let us pour our own drinks. There were only 10 people or so in the room. Good times were had by all.

I can’t remember which ship I was on, but I do remember during the day we could go in and get waters and sodas and there was no waiter in there to help you.

We did that on Anthem.  Dh went in early for his coffee.  Of course early one morning the machine was out of coffee and none to put in.  The guys called and had to wait.  A whole bunch of them looked funny standing there staring at the machine as if miraculously coffee would appear!

Honor bar is not no fee.

 

An honor bar is where you are on your honor to fill out a slip to charge to your room.

 

Free drinks are free drinks.

 

Self service bar is where you make your own drinks.  It can be an honor bar or free drinks.

Truly, as others have said, this is part of the website that RC has not updated since 2006.  The last time I experienced a self-serve bar in a Concierge Lounge was on the Enchantment, which was also the first ship to HAVE a CL.  And that stopped being self-serve quite quickly.  The Concierge usually made the drinks.  It was only later that they had or needed to have a waiter, because there were so few people eligible to use the CL.
