Thanks for sharing Mr. Silver, look forward to visiting Addo National Elephant park in December.

Cheers Wes. We had a great visit. Addo is about 70kms from PE, so it’s about an hours drive, however there were some roadworks yesterday, so it took about 1 hour 10mins. We had about 2 hours driving around the reserve, saw an individual male, then a small group in the distance and finally 200+ at the large water hole. We also saw Zebra and three Kudu antelopes. You should have a great time.

Today we are at sea on our way to Richards Bay.

Great photos, hope your trip is enjoyable, but 7:00AM for a check—-not sure about that.  Be safe!

We didn’t have any choice as the lab supposedly took 5 hours. Results were back just after midday. We tested ourselves yesterday and are clear.

YES, Addo National Elephant Park is super wonderful.  Visited there while on the Silver Cloud in early 2016 on a private tour.  Loved what all we saw and experienced there.

Keep up the exciting and great sharing by Mr. Silver.  Given the challenge in posting pictures from the ship and in order to build excitement for Wes' upcoming exploring there, below are three of my favorite visuals from Addo.

What will Mr. Silver be doing at PE??  Where exploring?

THANKS!  Enjoy!  Terry in Ohio

AFRICA?!!?: Fun, interesting visuals, plus travel details from this early 2016 live/blog. At 52,389 views. Featuring Cape Town, South Africa’s coast, Mozambique, Victoria Falls/Zambia and Botswana's famed Okavango Delta.

From Addo in early 2016, below are three of my favorites.  This includes three cute young ostriches that make it look as if they are three-headed with just one body, a charming zebra commanding the whole area and a family of elephants.  Love the baby elephants!!!:

Today's grumble, apart from the crap internet. We were asked to get an online Saudi visa. No documentation requirement before we left. When I asked when SS knew the new change I was told mid January. So there was over a month between SS knowing we would now need a visa and us leaving the UK. We had SS emails about joining the ship and Covid protocols up to 3 days before we left, but no one,  especially a COO thought to inform us about the visa requirement change, and that doing it online from the ship would be nigh to impossible. When you are desperate for business why would you want to piss off your loyal customers?

Second but minor moan, today was a Mardi Gras dinner, informed in advance to the World Cruisers, but not published in the Chronicles since we joined and no announcement by Fernando today. Why?

Our experience of being on a World Cruise for 42 day cruise was the same as you indicated. It was as if we were making up the numbers to ensure the World Cruisers enjoyed all the ships facilities as Private guest you had to work round it .Dining room closures to make sure only World Cruisers were admitted and Special Shows and Excursions were set aside for WCs.Thankfully we returned to the excellent service of SS for next years to date when all passengers on board were treated the same.

This was a general issue, it wasn’t advertised at all. A number of World Cruisers didn’t know either. We are treated no differently to the WCers, except for their special onshore events, and even then we have been invited to some of those as well.

Today in Durban we did an orientation tour that included the Indian Spice Market and the Botanical Gardens where we were guided by the gardens curator and his team, who were outstanding! Excellent by Silversea. On the other hand the email from Roberto Matinoli, SS CEO, has caused more angst and confusion than has been seen since the early days of the pandemic. For pity’s sake, get a grip Silversea!

Those gardens were indeed beautiful. We got a bonus stop on our Durban tour. After the gardens, the guide had us stop at the stadium, where we rode the funicular to the roof for beautiful views. Unexpected and spectacular!

Enjoying your report very much. It's making me want to revisit that beautiful country. So much to see and do!

Unfortunately the funicular is broken. But it was still a good tour.

Amen!  And stop blaming the CDC for your failure to read what you are citing!  Suck it up and admit you screwed up, SS.
