Upgrade from inside to balcony

We are taking the Queen Victoria on July 24th. We just got an unexpected upgrade from inside to BB Balcony 6068. One is that unusual and do I have a great travel agent? Or is it common practice. Finally does anyone know how obstructed this balcony is?

wow! We got upgraded from an outside to a balcony on our Transatlantic honeymoon 14 years ago, but that's the only one we've had with Cunard. There is a thread at the start of this forum that has some obstructed view cabin information, though I didn't realise balconies were particularly obstructed. Enjoy!

It usually means you are looking right at a lifeboat. Its fairly obstructed-- but you do have more of a view than you would have and the added bonus of the balcony/being able to go outside.

Checked deck plan and it appears 6068 is not obstructed.  Congratulations.

Only have received a single upgrade offer, but declined.

The obstructed balconies on QV are all on Deck 4 and 5.  This thread lists the obstructed rooms and has links to pictures of the view from each.

Is it possible the inside you were allocated/chosen is in what will be the quarantine area on board and thats why you've got an upgrade, that would be a possible reason?

They were running this as a promo on our QE trips last year -   we looked long and hard at it - but the balconies were much smaller than our inside deluxe.  They then dropped prices so we cancelled and rebooked  the same cabins at a lower cost anyways
