Where did you see this?  So I can document if I need it. thanks

I can't see the question on Facebook

That would be good because that's what I got when I tested positive-  I took a screenshot of the post of the page

I am following this too as the report I have from Quantum does not have all the information their website says it needs to, like the lab's CLIA number.  I would hope that they would accept a test report from one of their own ships though.  It does say it was an RT-PCR and then has a paragraph about methodology.  It really doesn't matter at this point since I don't have anything booked but just incase we change our mind in the next three months.

I have one in July and one in August.  I went to Walgreens and they do have all that info on their form.  That was my first  time at Walgreens .  All other times I have gone to my Urgent Care at my HealthCare provider and I never kept any copies so have no clue if all that info is on their letters.  I'm just getting paranoid now.  I doubt that my doctor is going to be willing to do that kind of letter.  Will be calling this week.  If I have to pay an online place $70 I would just call that insurance for my next 2 trips😇

How are you feeling?  You might be testing negative by then anyway.  At least you have a test that it looks like they will accept though, so you don't have to go get another.

I feel fine - still have a cough   Was the PCR test onboard still as invasive as I have heard?  I read somewhere that they are not as bad as they first were

Yes, it was, I felt like he touched the back of my skull. 😵 There were a bunch of crew in the corridor that I heard him testing too and they would gag and sneeze afterwards.  He only gave my DH an antigen test since he was testing negative, so he just got the short swab.  I wish they had done a PCR test on him too but they tested him hours after me, so I think they just wanted us out of there.  I was there almost 5 hours! 😱

We enjoyed the suite a lot.  It was very quiet and was great for viewing Alaska.  Really enjoyed having two bathrooms as that makes getting ready so much quicker.  The suite concierge was the best we have ever had, reaching out to us multiple times before the cruise, escorting off in port and really helping us once I was sick.  Coastal Kitchen was good but inconsistent.  The menus would say one thing and the entrée that came out would be very different.  Caprese salad said buffalo mozzarella but was burrata and was topped with avocado, which I have never seen on a caprese.  Mozzerella sticks were actually sharp cheddar sticks.  Potatoes on any dish were never what was listed and were always undercooked.  I am not into crunchy slices of potato in an au gratin.  Some entrees were excellent, like the filet mignon the first night and a roasted chicken dish with farro.  Weird that one nights entrees were actually the day before lunch entrees.

I am glad we went with a loft to see if we like them better but I think if we go sky class, we will stay with a GS or OS unless the price is right.

  • 2 weeks later...

Thanks again for bringing up this topic. We were able to get my son a certificate of recovery for our upcoming cruise on Saturday. He tested positive (rapid test) for Covid May 5th. So we got him PCR tested a couple of weeks later and he was still positive. We used that positive result to get his certificate of recovery from our doctor.

This week Thursday, even if he tests positive on Thursday with a rapid antigen test for some strange reason, we can still use the COR in order to get him on the ship

Dan

Just remember that the CoR needs to have this information:

A certified medical health certificate from a doctor stating that you have fully recovered from COVID-19. It must meet the following requirements:
    ◦    Official letterhead from a healthcare provider, public health official or telehealth provider showing:
    ▪    Their name
    ▪    Their address
    ▪    Their phone number
    ▪    Confirmation of your recovery and completion of isolation
    ◦    Must be typed (not handwritten) and signed by the provider
    ◦    Must confirm the sample collection date of the positive PCR test, which must be a minimum of 11 days and a maximum of 90 days before the departure date of your cruise

you will also be required to show the actual positive PCR test results from when you got tested

Dan, we are in the same boat. I’m curious how the people at the port will handle if he tests positive with antigen 2 days before sailing.  I thought the Healthy Sail questionnaire asks if u have tested positive in the last 2 weeks. If so, and if you answer “yes” to that, but also have your positive PCR from 11+ days ago along with the CoR... I’m just wondering if that will cause a problem at the port. It shouldn’t, but....

Having a positive right before sailing will certainly catch their attention, even if it’s expected because you tested positive 11+ days ago. Guess it depends on how well the port staff is trained.

For my son, his pediatrician wrote and signed the letter. Brought a copy of the requirements from Royal's website, and she couldn't have been nicer and more accomodating.

For my wife, her PCP office sucks, so we did the telemed. We used Evivia, a telehealth outfit down in Miami. Very easy. Did everything on their website and 24 hours later had the letter in an email.

Hope you had a great cruise. Would love to hear feedback on if you had to use the COR for your sailing. We are in the same "boat". DR office is pushing back saying "they don't understand why we need a letter" or they have not heard its required". Regardless at this point if we have to pay for it we will as a back up. Just want to make sure its all legit and accepted.

There was a decent discussion between the check-in agent and their supervisors, but they accepted the CORs for both my wife and son, and he did NOT have to do any testing at the pier.

I am still confused so let me ask this:

If I test positive for covid using a PCR test and then say 3 weeks later I am no longer positive,

do I even have to mention the fact that I had covid or do I just taken the Antigen test and get negative results and good to go?

Does the recovery form allow you to travel and bypass the 48 hour testing rule because you might still have lingering covid.

You just take your test and get your negative result and are good to go.  The Recovery form allows you to bypass the testing but seems like it takes a bit longer to board since I don't think they see too many of them

You will be good to go as long as you have the proper CoR.  That's the whole point of the CoR (in case you still test positive within two days of the cruise).  If you do test positive, with any test, show them the CoR.  The only limitation with the CoR has to do with your ports.  Some countries will not allow individuals off the ship with only a CoR.

Dan

Someone who cruised with a COR posted on FB that they were allowed off the ship at Labadee. They said that their Seapass card was not flagged to not let them off

Is he vaccinated?   I ask because I was told unvaccinated couldn’t use a COR.  My kids are not vaccinated and if they get Covid again before our next cruise I’d like to use a COR.

He is not (he's only 3.5 years old). After a 10-minute discussion, they accepted it and he did not have to test at the pier.

Typically Royal.  We were told you must be vaccinated to use a COR.  I wonder if that is wrong or you got a one off exception to this.

We used our COR for our Rome/Greece/Turkey cruise May 10, we had our propoer Dr letter, plus our PCR +ve test, with in the 90 days and had no problem at check in, they checked dates, looked at the forms, and said enjoy your cruise, (we did not have a test the day before) we are dbl vaxxed and added a booster a month after having covid, Dr suggested wait for 30 days, so fast fwd, we are heading on another cruise this weekend, 5 nter out of Cape Can, to Bahamas and Labadee, and we are still with in the 90 day window, and will again use same docs and not test before boarding.

It was out of Cape Liberty, if that helps. Also, it doesn't say anywhere on Royal's site (and it's not in the CDC guidance, which is what they're following) that COR is only for vaccinated.
