Some answers to questions we have been discussing in this forum

Recommended Posts

Repeating this transcript with my questions today to Princess as it may be helpful or of interest to others in this forum. In particualr a main question was our health status over weekend had us upload our vaccination certificates and also asked us to upload our proof of negative RAT/covid test with 48 hours of departutre. This rang bells as it sounded different to "attesting" our negative results.

Ok here are the answers from my questions on live chat to Princess today. I have put the basic transcript so it answers a few of our questions at this stage. She had heard nothing about any changes and assured me they have different protocols in US (which I think we all knew).

Irene Webber : just to confirm, the app when uploading our vac certs also asked us to upload proof of our negative test. and that details of what we have to do will be available 48 before cruise. If we suddenly had to get supervised tests it would be quite difficult maybe to procure (we are flying into Brisbane from Melbourne. Is it possible a photo taken of our negative test will suffice or as you say it will just be attesting to neg result? and if there is a major change like this will princess notify us or do we just have to check the health protocols every day in case?

[Christine] We are currently just asking guests to attest that the RAT was negative. RATs will be supplied onboard for guests doing back to back cruises for the next cruises You will just need to attest.

[Christine] Checking the health protocols as often as you can is highly recommended. They have different protocols in US

[Christine] They must be doing something to the app behind the scenes. I am not aware that we need to prove negative results.

[Christine] They do have different protocols in the US.

[Irene Webber] We are travelling B2B for the four cruises, in a full suite. I have never travelled in a suite before. Does the priority embarkation and disembarkation still operate according to the suite benefits list or has it changed due to health protocols?

[Christine] You will still have priority embarkation and disembarkation.

[Irene Webber] And also my app was showing us both green lane right up til yesterday when it changed to blue lane and asked us to upload vax certs which I did. It was there it said to upload proof of out RAT test. I presume it won’t go green again til just before cruise. I cannot complete our order for medallions, it just keeps saying its loading? Will medallions just be available at check-in on embarkation and will we have a different one for B2B's.

[Christine] You will have a different medallion for each cruise. I also believe that you will change back to green lane closer toward sail date. Medallions will be collected at the pier.

Hope this helps some of our musings about possibilities. I know it wasn't a phone call but it was easier to get a response this way having tried both. Im happy to keep a list of questions if there are any more. We have a topic re Q & A for those travelling 16, 19, 23, 26 June from Brisbane. If you have not already checked it out you might find answers there, or even be able to answer some from your own current experience.

Thanks

Some may find this helpful too (make no promise it will work for everyone)

Medallion App:  was speaking to my Travel Planner yesterday and told him I was having problems with getting details into App. His suggestion was to - when you log in to the Medallion App - do it through your booking number. It then brings up your name - first then last and DOB. And worked a charm, managed to upload all documents etc. So if you are having problems, give it a try 👍

How did you up-load the copy of your vaccination certificate/s? I have mine in digital form on my PC, but the web version of the app doesn't appear to allow me to upload anything.

When we started this long journey with the Medallion app, we used our mobile. I manually entered passport details. The other option would be to photograph the document then upload the image. If I have to, I can do that with the vax cert. However I would prefer to up-load an original version of the vax certificate, not a photograph where there would be no proof it wasn't an altered document.

Ha!! You haven't tried to master it.

That is why I am not cruising Princess next time, plus they got rid of traditional dining.

They can stick their !@#$%^&*( Medallion, lol.

My husband is almost at the point of agreeing with you on your second comment. 🙂 I am handling the Medallion app because I don't think he would have the patience.

Crikey this Princess Medallion thingy is running longer than the tipping threads, formal wear threads.lol.

That is because it is a cruiser response app aka  C.R.APP.

Once sorted, it is a really good all in one app that covers from booking through to disembarking. The sum of all the parts probably worked reasonably well, until they started to add vaxx and testing protocols to it.

I did exactly that. I went old school, and took a photo of my printed out version and uploaded the photo image.

I uploaded a photo - my original has been saved in iBooks from MYGOV as a PDF. I then took a photo from within the iPad and the app accepts the photo. As CDaze71 said, the photo upload is easy, as is the photo of our heads 😆

I will carry a printout when we board, same as ID (passport) and both a print and photo of the Attestation to RAT test. 😮💨
We cruised on Ruby in Feb ‘20 and it had Medallion and I’m sure it was all so much simpler before Covid!!

The QR code on the certificate will blow any forgeries into the weeds.

I’m happy to be the Guinea pig on 16th! I’ll do my best to do live as soon as we’re on so I can check anything else people think of!

Your details, your form of ID, your vaccination types and dates.

This would already have been checked already, and that is part of your green line. There will be much scanning of QR codes on the day in the blue line, and it would need to align to their passenger ID

After entering all the relevant info into the Medallion app, I don't expect anyone will check our vax certs at the port. I am hoping embarkation is very fast and easy after collecting our Medallions.

That’s very true, cos if they’re not entered we won’t get green lane and so the blue lane will prob have them checked???

That is what I am telling my husband - "all of this mucking around with the Medallion will mean faster embarkation". The whole Medallion-thing is probably about saving staff time - fewer check-in staff and faster ordering drinks etc. on board.

Yep, 40 hours pre-cruise to get the app to turn green for everything, to save 20 minutes on the day.

And totally worth it!! 😁

Admit it, we have to do something to keep us occupied while we wishing away the time til we can board lol. If we werent all such eager beavers, we could probably have started it 48 hours ahead of time and we would have known none of these glitches and would have just sailed through oblivious hahahaha

Agreed. Once the info is entered into the Medallion system, it is there for the next cruise and it won't take so long.

It is nice to know we have reservations and know what we will be eating at Crown Grill on 24th October, yet I don't know what I am having for dinner tonight.

And because of trust & practice, I will start packing on Sunday before heading to Sydney on Monday morning.
