OzzyOzborne Posted May 30, 2022 #1 Share Posted May 30, 2022 Hi all We’re going on a Baltic cruise on Queen Victoria soon and was just checking if you can take spirits on board…….the last time we went a few years ago you could. It now states yiu can only take a bottle of wine or champagne on? Has anyone any idea of what’s possible…..as it looks very confusing…. We always like a drink on the balcony before dinner…….part of the holiday thanks….

sandancer Posted June 4, 2022 #7 Share Posted June 4, 2022 I’m wondering if the staff at Southampton are more flexible. Our cruise departs from Fort Lauderdale and we have never been able to carry on more than 2 bottles of wine when embarking there (not Cunard however). Is it the ship staff who check or port security? We have never tried to carry on more than the allowance but still had our bags searched.
Host Hattie Posted June 4, 2022 #8 Share Posted June 4, 2022 Bags are searched in Southampton and when boarding after port stops but nobody is confiscating alcohol.

sandancer Posted June 4, 2022 #10 Share Posted June 4, 2022 Well that’s a happy coincidence. We are staying fairly close to a Total Wine. That’ll do. Cheers

When searching, type your required style in the search bar at top of TW page, not a symbol in the central section. You've hit the nail on the head underwater. I'm amazed, this question ( alcohol permitted onboard Cunard) has been discussed on this board so many times before. At the end of the day , Cunard Line treat guest's as sensible adults. To clarify, Cunard's notification ( of one bottle of wine or Champagne ) has been the same for several years With this notification Cunard Line are able to cover them self as they 'still reserve the right' to remove an 'excessive amount of alcohol' being brought onboard their ships. As in the case of a stag party on occasional mini cruises .

So if we didn’t bring enough to start with from Southampton we can top off at a port stop? What a great policy. We’re planning to bring some wine for our cabin but will likely buy wine at dinner from the list. I am so looking forward to our first Cunard voyage on QV in a couple months!
TER777 Posted June 5, 2022 #15 Share Posted June 5, 2022 Friends on board QE now said the onboard shop had a sale the other day. They could buy alcohol and have it delivered to their room right away for consumption, not held for disembarkation.

Are you sure you would get the top off booze past the security? Although security on these ships is a joke.

One does not get alcohol “past” security, but openly through it. If anyone is unsure of Cunard’s alleged flexible alcohol policy, then just comply with the Cunard published T&C. No need to post again on this thread.

On a WC (albeit whole or a part Voyage of a WC) every Thursday guests are issued with a voucher which enables them to visit the liquor store, purchase and take immediately, or if not on the shelf, have their purchase/s delivered to their stateroom. Very civilised, very Cunard.

brio Posted December 21, 2023 #25 Share Posted December 21, 2023 (edited) Cunard say (and I have just spoken to them) you can take a "bottle" of sprits on board to be consumed in your stateroom. The Cunard lady said to put it in your hand luggage. If you take it out of your stateroom to drink it you will be charged a corkage fee.
