yogibear Posted July 8, 2022 #2 Share Posted July 8, 2022 All adults over 21 in the same cabin must buy the package if one wants it. Karen
kelkel2 Posted July 8, 2022 #3 Share Posted July 8, 2022 Not if you’re in the same cabin. Carnival is very strict about it and people on CC have reported very little to no luck even with doctors notes etc.

jiggs Posted July 8, 2022 #6 Share Posted July 8, 2022 based on OPs user name alone, I will add that people have been successful buying cheers for one person if the other person in the cabin had DOU Everywhere from the casino. Essentially you're both getting Cheers, just the players club is paying for one of them.
Rare crewsweeper Posted July 8, 2022 #7 Share Posted July 8, 2022 Curious as to which other cruise lines allow single purchases of drink packages. I know on Royal it has to be both.
Rare 1025cruise Posted July 8, 2022 #8 Share Posted July 8, 2022 The only way to get around the requirement of buying for all adults is if one of the adults gets drinks on us, everywhere from the casino. Then, you can buy one Cheers package for the other adult.

Usually this requires the other person to get the refreshment package that Royal offers. Plus it requires a phone call. Carnival, however, does not allow for any exceptions to the rule.
Rare crewsweeper Posted July 8, 2022 #11 Share Posted July 8, 2022 It should not be that difficult for any cruise line to set up ship cards for a single drink package. Already limit you to 15 drinks a day and you have to wait 5 minutes before ordering another. Honestly think they would make more $ off drink packages by allowing 1 person in a cabin to buy as that throws oout many who would otherwise participate. Programming is the easy part, just a couple key strokes and it can happen. However the profit margin instantly disappears. Each package is priced based on an average amount of product consumed by the passenger. The company I am sure has this tracked very close and it is probably nowhere close to 15 drinks per passenger per day. If they allowed passengers to share the package which is what would happen if only passenger per cabin had to purchase that average would shoot up to the 15 drinks per day in my opinion. Add to that all the extra bottles of water, energy drinks, and coffee the cost would have to go way up to bring in the profits the company needs to maintain. Also one other aspect to remember is the gratuities, one package being sold one set of gratuities but twice the product sales essentially cutting the gratuities in half for the crew.
markkw07 Posted July 8, 2022 #13 Share Posted July 8, 2022 (edited) Or the other people/person assigned to your stateroom are under 21. Then you could get the cheers for 1. Again, there are ways to do this, assuming you book it the correct way, and you have the appropriate amount of people under 21 and the amount of staterooms booked. As everyone has stated, if everyone in your group is 21 and over, then it doesn't matter, everyone assigned to your stateroom must purchase Cheers, unless as someone stated above, they have the drinks on us comp from the casino. Maybe if one is under age and the other is an adult? Not sure about that either.

Royal allows one alcohol package if the other adult buys the much cheaper refreshment package. That's also offered once on board, but unless the one who doesn't drink alcohol uses enough of the non-alcoholic offerings to justify that purchase, may not be the best choice.
