We’re back from our 2 hour walk “around” the town. I highly recommend if you want to see the lake behind the town, go to your left when you exit the tender. If you go to the right, you will be going immediately uphill and it will take some time and positive thinking before you get to the lake.

Also, if you chose to take the 4 mile walk around the lake, the start of pathway isn’t all that easy to find and it does look like a rocky ordeal if you do. Best find a guide to assist you. For us, we chose to walk “around” the town, but always kept the lake to the left of us.

If you decide to walk to the lake, turn left when you get off the tender and look for this creek which originates at the lake.

Of course, I had to stop and take pictures of the wildlife we saw along the way. 😁

As we left the view of the lake, we walked the dirt path less traveled and found this cool totem pole!

This was the view as we started to climb up the paved road heading back to the pier with the goal of coming in from the “right side” of the town.

Don’t miss the carved rocks just across from the tender port, just to the right of the group of people you see in the above picture.

As we rode in the tender back to the ship, the fog was starting to settle in again.

Just took this picture of the town from our balcony. Sure glad we got up early and went in this morning around 8:30 am. 😁

Thank you so much for posting about your trip.  We cruise tomorrow for Canada/Greenland on Princess and are enjoying your port photos.  Did you encounter any bugs/mosquitos on your walk around the lake?  Enjoy the rest of your cruise.

We did, but they weren’t that bad. Maybe 1 or 2 every once in awhile and they’re only about 1/8” long. Nothing like the 1/2” mosquitoes in the South. 😂

Did you do your walk around Qaqortoq and the lake on your own or via a Celebrity excursion?

We did it on our own as did some other folks we saw along the way. All in all is was pretty easy to figure out, especially if you follow the clues I gave above. We were here 4 years ago and did a cruise line sponsored walking tour of the town. It was interesting, so we had a feel for what to expect this time. However, we never knew about the lake until someone mentioned it early on in this thread. Once I started to research it, we realized it was a nice option just to walk to the lake and then around town ourselves. 😁

Beautiful pictures🤩 looks like a great day🥰

Beautiful day in Bergen means a walking tour uphill😌 This is from Ulriken😉

if your not in mood for 1331Sherpa stairs, you can take the gondola🙃 it takes you up in 5.min.
I earned my ice cream on the top before walking down again😅

Wow, amazing weather. We were there on June 17th via cruiseship and it was such a miserable day  with windswept rain soaking our pants and shoes.

Then there is a Relaxing in the Blue Lagoon excursion for $310 per person for those that what to go take a dip in its Icelandic thermal waters.

More than $300 per person to take a round-trip bus ride to Blue Lagoon? That's highway robbery, even for a ship excursion. If anyone is considering this option, you can just get a cab to Sky Lagoon which is in Reykjavik--Blue Lagoon is a solid 45 minutes out of town--and save yourself a ton of time and money.

Just curious, do you know what the entrance fee is to get into the Blue Lagoon? My guess is it’s not cheap.

Here’s what I found.

We opted not to do the lake walk, but your photos are making me regret that. We did climb up a staircase though because I can never resist anything that leads me up. We managed to snag these photos of the town. Of course, whenever I tried to get any sort of scenic shot, the fog rolled back in. After I gave up and went back to the boat, the sun came out again for a few minutes. I think I have that same photo of the iceberg out the aft. Haven't downloaded that one from the camera yet.

After another tasty dinner in Blu with great service every night, we headed off to the theater to watch Les Greene and his band, which were quite enjoyable!

Then we headed over to the Rendezvous Lounge to watch Majority Rules which is always fun!

I might note there were some references made earlier that the Captain said this morning over the loud speaker that due to an increase in COVID cases onboard the ship, masks will be required in the theater and the casino from now on. In fact there was one older gentleman giving an officer a super hard time before the evening show that the mandatory signs hadn’t been posted.

Whatever the reason, there were no mandatory mask signs posted before or after the early show in either the theater or the casino. Could this be a positive sign, tests won’t be required for the B2B guests prior to transition day? Did I mention I’m an eternal optimist? 😂

We will be on the Summit mid October and wondering if they have Moscato wine on the wine list. We were on a couple of cruises  in the past  that it was not available. Thanks in advance.

They do not. However, they do have a very tasty Riesling Spatlese they’re offering as a substitute, which I have been drinking every night at dinner. However, you will need a Premium Beverage package to get it by the glass for free.

We visited there last summer during a two-week road trip around Iceland. Looks like we spent about 10000 ISK per person, or ~$75-$80, for the premium package, which was admission, a few extra amenities like flip flops, all the face masks, and a couple drink tickets if I remember correctly. I imagine the price is a bit higher now, but still!

There are cheaper (and IMO better) pools in Iceland, but they'd be somewhat challenging to access without a car.
