Taking an October Transatlantic?

Someone on my rollcall just drew my attention to the protocols that are specifically for all the TAs this October.  Definitely NOT the same as European cruise requirements.   Transatlantic Requirements.  Short version is you must be vaxd and "must present a negative antigen test result taken within 2 days prior to sailing. Pre-arrival testing must be completed by an authorized provider at your own expense."

Yes, Celebrity communication has been volatile and confusing with regard to requirements. We made all reservations this past week only to have their requirements change yesterday. They have conflicting information- the below is still on their website even though not true. They need to provide clear direction.

Because you are "cherry picking" futher down it has exceptions which include Transatlantics. Always read to the bottom.

Hi Ruth, as usual the headlines don't match the detail. Further down X makes it clear that Transatlantics, cruises that go to Canada etc have different rules. Sorry we won't be with you, we have switched to a Royal TA to use up our last FCC. Now that the compolsary  AI has been dropped we are on Reflection in October 23. Have a great cruise, Geoff and the boss (Anita).

No ‘cherry picking’ for me and I did read to the bottom and saw the exclusion. Their communication (website and phone) is confusing, contradictory and wasn’t timely for our trip, but still worth the grief (so far) since I haven’t cancelled.

Which Celebrity's web site has managed to state incorrectly.  Per Celebrity:

"Bermuda requires all guests to complete an online Travel Authorization form, upload their negative test results, and pay an associated fee directly through Bermuda’s dedicated website located here: https://www.gov.bm/cruise-travel-authorisation."   [And then there's the requirement of ship-board testing if the ship takes more than 4 says to reach Bermuda after embarkation.]

Bermuda has not required the upload of negative test results since June.  Although Celebrity links to the correct Bermuda web site with the current rules, it failed to delete obsolete language from its own Bermuda page.   Another instance of no fact-checking or oversight by Celebrity in its communications.

I Think the TA exception was added more recently because I had specifically looked for it and it only said Canada, Bermuda and Greece. But, in addition to vaccinations required testing must be proctored.

 

Pre-Arrival Covid-19 Testing

All guests must present a digital or physical copy of a supervised, negative COVID-19 test result at check-in to board their sailing. 

Guests must present a negative antigen test result taken within 2 days prior to sailing. Pre-arrival testing must be completed by an authorized provider at your own expense.

OK, I slightly freaked when I saw this, as we will be leaving the US three days before the cruise. But a quick Google search showed several rapid-result antigen test sites near the port in Southampton. I'm sure other major departure port cities have the same entrepreneurs set up around them.

 

Clearly we want to self test at home before leaving the US, but getting a facility test will not be a problem.

On the information provided by Celebrity, there is no link for Canadian travellers to purchase a supervised test in Canada.  Only for U.S. & U.K. travellers.

Does anyone have a link for Canadian travellers?

Our TA is not hitting Bermuda, not hitting Canada, and still falls under these new guidelines. Even worse, without this forum it is unlikely I would have seen these updates! After looking over the celebrity site, I still do not see the transatlantic page, and they did not email us with it, either.

This is all I see on the healthy at sea page about transatlantic:

Currently published testing and vaccination requirements remain in place for cruises from Australia and New Zealand, and the Galapagos; cruises that depart from or visit Canada; and transatlantic sailings, until further notice.

The word "transatlantic" is not clickable, and if I do the "click here" and go down the rabbit hole until I hit Italy, I do not see it there.

It was added Friday I would hope they are sending out an e-mail. In addition to the monitored test I'm sure many unvax people booked cruises when the first set of after Sept 5 guidelines came out - that did not indicate an exception for TA's

Oh it definitely has been (Oct 22 Connie).  We have been chewing on it all morning.  I think Ruth posted it here as PSA for the other TAs.

Someone in our rollcall posted that they called Celebrity and talked to a Supervisor. They said that the monitored testing only applies to Bermuda sailings. They sent her a document but its just a word document that can be edited. So who knows at this point. Hopefully they make the contradictory language clearer but we know how that goes. Still no e-mail regarding the changes.

Be sure you’re aware of both homeport country and Celebrity Cruises vaccine and testing requirements as they may differ. Sailing Requirements Checklist

Required Travel Documentation to Board

Proof of Vaccine is required for all guests regardless of age. 

Negative Test Result must be presented by all guests upon arrival at port. 

Health Declaration to be completed exclusively on our Celebrity Cruises App via check-in. 

Passport is needed for all guests with a validity of at least 6 months after their sailing’s return date. 

All guests must check their Visa and ESTA requirements before traveling. 

Proof of Residence may be needed for guests traveling with a passport that was issued from a country different from their country of residence.

For Itineraries that have a port of call in Bermuda, the following form needs to be completed before arrival to the country:

• Bermuda Travel Authorization: The Bermuda government requires that all guests complete an online Travel Authorization form, upload their negative test results, and pay an associated fee directly through Bermuda’s dedicated website located here. A receipt of this form, digital or paper copy will need to be presented at check-in in order to board the ship. If this is not completed, it will cause delays at the terminal. This form is available beginning 30 days prior to sailing and all guests must present their approved authorization form in order to board their sailing.

Health Protocols and Requirements

Vaccines

In order to sail on a Transatlantic crossing with us, we will require all guests to be fully vaccinated.

COVID-19 booster vaccine shots are not currently required to sail but are highly recommended to ensure a smoother vacation experience.  

Guests are considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19 if 2 weeks have passed since their second dose in a 2-dose series (such as Pfizer or Moderna vaccines); or, 2 weeks after a one dose series such as Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccine. 

Vaccines approved and accepted by the TGA (Therapeutic Goods Administration) will be considered valid. 

Guests with a mixed series of any two of the following vaccines taken within a minimum of 28 days between doses, will also be considered fully vaccinated:

• Pfizer/Cominarty
• Moderna/Spikevax 
• Johnson & Johnson/Janssen
• AstraZeneca/Covishield/Vaxzevria
• Sinovac/Coronavac
• Sinopharm/BBIBP-CorV
• Covaxin
• Nuvaxovid 

Any guest who has received one dose of a vaccine (other than Johnson & Johnson/Janssen) will not be considered fully vaccinated.

Documentation of full vaccination must be provided at the terminal as a condition for boarding. 

Please plan to carry your vaccination documentation with you at all times while in port should local authorities or businesses request it to help facilitate entry and/or experiences.

Testing Requirements

Guests who have recently recovered from COVID-19 may present a Certificate of Recovery and proof of the positive PCR test result taken between 11-90 days prior to the sail date in order to board. In addition, a vaccination card must also be presented.  We will not accept a Certificate of Recovery in place of a vaccination record.

Additionally, please be aware that some ports of call do not accept a Certificate of Recovery for the purposes of debarking and enjoying the destination. If applicable to your itinerary, you will be advised of the latest requirements leading up to departure.

PLEASE NOTE: Bermuda does not accept Certificates of Recovery and will not exempt guests from presenting a negative COVID-19 test result. Guests who are unable to present a negative COVID-19 test result, regardless of whether or not they have a Certificate of Recovery, are unable to debark the ship in Bermuda.

Would be nice if Celebrity would quit posting this:  "...upload their negative test results".

 

Ships in the NCL, Carnival and RCL brands are exempt from that since they are confirming this prior to boarding for these cruises.
