markperth Posted September 22, 2022 #1 Share Posted September 22, 2022 Hi all, pre Covid, we were given upgrade toiletries in balcony suites, as platinum level. i.e. same as suite guests. Elemis stuff. Has this perk still been offered, we are now diamond level with the regrading of levels. hate the standard stuff, and will bring our own if not. cheers

What was the brand name please @LaCal Thanks Mike On our last two cruises (July and August 2022) we received Bvulgari products (hair & body shampoo, hair conditioner and body lotion). But personally I also like the "regular" hair/body shampoo that are in the dispenser in the shower - at least to use as shower gel - smells nice and fresh... ggTexasGal Posted September 22, 2022 #5 Share Posted September 22, 2022 This is just speculation on my part: I have read, and seen recent pictures of L'Occtaine products posted in Haven suites on the Joy. Perhaps each ship is using older stock up for the Latitudes rooms, and/or, SUPPLY CHAIN issues are causing the disparity of what is available! (Which would explain why three of us have posted three different brands.)
MeHeartCruising Posted September 22, 2022 #6 Share Posted September 22, 2022 I am Platinum and was in a balcony cabin (not a suite, however) and didn't get anything special on the Dawn earlier this month. Just the regular shampoo and body wash in the shower dispenser and a soap dispenser by the sink.
MagnoliaBlossom Posted September 22, 2022 #7 Share Posted September 22, 2022 (edited) We are Diamond and on our Star cruise we didn’t have anything special. Edited September 22, 2022 by MagnoliaBlossom
Rare mking8288 Posted September 22, 2022 #8 Share Posted September 22, 2022 Both of us Sapphires onboard this week on the Joy, no special or upgraded toiletry items ... Plenty of Platinum & higher onboard this week, such upgrade would quickly deplete "remaining" inventory. DW prefer to use her own products anyway. OP, did you get robes and slippers ?
Cruising Lynne Posted September 22, 2022 #9 Share Posted September 22, 2022 We are also Sapphire and I am wondering if the average crew member even knows that it is a higher level than Platinum? We had our chocolate covered strawberries and waters, but no special toiletries or robes on our recent trip. I was not worried about the robes since I knew the steward would bring them upon request. I did not know that special toiletries were even an option. I would settle for the lotion they used to give out and a bar of soap. My next question is not about toiletries, but may be related to being Platinum or higher. We were on Breakaway earlier this month in a balcony cabin, and I was also wondering if Lattitudes level has any bearing on where you are seated in the MDR? I was surprised that on the first night we went to the MDR, they tried to seat us at a two top right by the doorway that all the crew goes in and out of with the food and dishes. It was early and there were still several two tops next to the windows available. We asked to be moved because it was the time period that Burn the Floor was going to be performing, and I wanted to be closer to see the show. My husband had even given the hostess the little voucher we had to get the cake to celebrate our anniversary, and he wanted it to be a special dinner. We ended up at a table for four much closer to the dance floor, so it worked out.

Marie BS Posted September 22, 2022 #11 Share Posted September 22, 2022 We sailed the Spirit Sept.2nd and I asked the cabin steward for lotion, he said he checked but there wasn't any. I am a new sapphire member, we had 1 robe in the cabin and a second one came half way thru the cruise. As a sapphire I should have a dinner with the officers but they are not doing that and when I asked for a on board credit I was told there is no cash value and nothing was offered instead. The only thing extra I received was another bottle water :( looks like general cutbacks.

Last week on the Breakaway, even though my brother and I were both Plat, we didn't get the water. We upgraded last min, so I ended up at cruise next desk and they gave me the dining coupons. Then they tried to expedite delivery of the water 3x last week, where eventually the Cruise Next manager called me and said he gave up and bought me a box of water from the bar across from their area with his own money, as this was ridiculous that they couldn't get the water to me at 5 days into a 7 day cruise. Funny enough, the strawberries made it on the 2nd day.

We were just in the Haven on the Breakaway and they had L'Occtaine. But everything is in big dispensers bolted to the wall now, so you could put any soap in the bottles and no one would ever know.
UKstages Posted September 23, 2022 #14 Share Posted September 23, 2022 (edited) l'occitane products in the haven on the joy as well, in dispensers, as shown in the photo above. as for putting any liquid of any brand in there... that's certainly true. but the l'occitane products have a unique aroma and those familiar would likely know if a substitution had been made. Rare PammyMouse Posted September 23, 2022 #15 Share Posted September 23, 2022 Dawn had the L'Occitane in the suites as well. While returning to my cabin one day I saw the stewards had huge bottles of the products on the carts for refills. We were in a two-bedroom and I actually thought the body lotion was really nice. Contractually speaking, putting something other than the specified brand of product in the bottles would be very bad for NCL. L'Occitane would not want its brand degraded. UKstages Posted September 23, 2022 #16 Share Posted September 23, 2022 i saw refilling taking place, too. but they weren't refilling from larger bottles, but from plastic or foil industrial packages.

It may seem like a small thing, but it is a perk you earned and It shouldn't be that hard to get.

Your room steward can "give away" freebies on the ship. The water needs to be ordered [by Cruise Next] and delivered by the bar or room service. I mentioned the steward because they sometimes know someone in bar or room service that can help expedite things. Didn't realize getting water was such a process. I am glad my next cruise is through my casino so I can get bottles of water for free at the casino bar.
