Aeroplex Posted September 28, 2022 #1 Share Posted September 28, 2022 (edited) Hello everyone, let’s start with my favorite topic which is food. What was your favorite dish on your MSC cruise? (Everyone is entitled to post 1 dish). Mine was the Bone Marrow: - Butchers Cut - Starter Dish Edited September 28, 2022 by Aeroplex
NMsunset Posted September 28, 2022 #2 Share Posted September 28, 2022 Frenched lamb chops on Seaside dinner buffet Divina MDR by request to chef, butter chicken Always good: filet in Butchers Cut Pizza duh!
racephoto Posted September 28, 2022 #3 Share Posted September 28, 2022 Gotta say, the tuna in Ocean Cay restaurant tonight was fantastic. Definitely the best thing I’ve ever eaten on MSC. Sadly, the crab cake was a big disappointment, and the cheesecake was frozen solid. I did have them give me a thawed out one. Gritty cheesecake is no-go. Second fave was the patatas brava I got from the buffet on my first MSC cruise. Wish they had those again.
Rare styles27 Posted September 28, 2022 #4 Share Posted September 28, 2022 Loved this shrimp dish on Divina in 2021. I believe it was Shrimp Fra Diavalo. The sauce was so good and the little empanada was delicious too. Hoping they still offer this on Divina.
rkacruiser Posted September 28, 2022 #5 Share Posted September 28, 2022 A Ravioli with Pesto Sauce was a memorable and different entree that I enjoyed. At Breakfast, the Ranchero Potatoes (if I recall their name quickly) were delicious.
Homosassa Posted September 29, 2022 #6 Share Posted September 29, 2022 I have many favorites; however I will limit my post to the one that many may not know exists. That offering is the hot ooey gooey sticky buns at the breakfast buffet. They are big and hot from the oven. They are usually at the pizza section. LatinaInTexas Posted September 29, 2022 #7 Share Posted September 29, 2022 Excuse the messy plate but this roast pork dish was so tender and the crispy, crackly skin was delicious! My least favorite was the BBQ ribs, tough with a sauce on them that tasted just like ketchup. This was on Seashore. 1
Paphillyguy Posted September 29, 2022 #8 Share Posted September 29, 2022 I have a few but one that stands out in my mind was the Butter Chicken in the YC on my December cruise on the Seashore. Our waiter told us that any Indian dish in the Yacht Club was a not to miss and he was correct.
Nunagoras Posted September 29, 2022 #9 Share Posted September 29, 2022 Not exactly a dish by itself, but their authentic gelato, in most ships from Venchi, is to die for. Pro tip: You usually can have a little small scoop of that on the MDR as a lunch or dinner dessert for free.
marierdna Posted September 29, 2022 #10 Share Posted September 29, 2022 I was on the Divina on September 11, 2022 cruise. The room service NY strip steak was done wonderfully. The night after I had the same thing in the dining room and again it was done wonderfully. The Ossobuco was delicious, and the chicken con vin que was good too. The pizza was extremely good. The desserts were amazing. There was never a shortage of fresh fruit and veggies on the buffet. Also, the cold cuts were of quality, If you are wondering why there was no seafood or fish on the list, I have a really bad shellfish allergy. I can't wait to try the food on the Seascape in June.
Rare Hlitner Posted September 29, 2022 #11 Share Posted September 29, 2022 For us this is an easy question. When we cruise on MSC it is in the Yacht Club and while on the Divina (pre Covid) we had an Italian Maitre'd (I cannot recall his name) in the Restaurant that would make a nightly pasta dish. He would cook the pasta in a very large chaffing dish within the restaurant and waiters would deliver portions to all the diners. One evening he made a cacio e pepe that was simply fantastic. It was better than I have ever had in Rome (the city that made this pasta dish famous) in expensive restaurants. I still can taste that amazing pasta and DW (who has some excellent chef skills) has worked hard to duplicate that wonderful sauce. Hank
Rare Georgia_Peaches Posted September 30, 2022 #12 Share Posted September 30, 2022 Had lots of good food on our cruise a few weeks ago. But am I the only one who thinks the OP’s bone marrow dish looks gross? No offense, OP.
titangas Posted September 30, 2022 #13 Share Posted September 30, 2022 I can second that the Bone Marrow in Butcher’s Cut is heavenly and to die for.
77red96 Posted September 30, 2022 #14 Share Posted September 30, 2022 Easy for me, the T-bone (porterhouse) in the MDR on Bellissima. €18 upsell but worth every penny. I also had creamed potato and carrots on the side.

No offense, OP. 100% I'm with you, about 40 years ago my grandmother cooked soup, before putting any of the ingredients in she boiled a large bone, I remember her letting me taste the marrow when it was done, it's not something I'd ever like to experience again.
