Any chance of Cheers sale?

Although I agree with others that Cheers! is unlikely to go on sale again, I happen to know it was on sale at least once, many years ago.  I think it was on our September 2014 Carnival Pride cruise that my DH and I bought Cheers!  only because it was on sale.  I found out about the promotional price here on CC, possibly on our Roll Call, I can't recall exactly.

We bought it upon boarding, at the discounted price (I believe the discount was $5 off, pp per day, which would mean the package for two people for our week long cruise was $70 less than it would have been at regular price).  I checked with the crew member selling the Cheers! package inside the Atrium Lobby at embarkation, to make sure of the discounted price before I bought it.   He was surprised that I knew about this already (thank you, CC😉) and confirmed that Cheers! was indeed being sold at a discounted price.

I cannot swear to the exact date of the cruise (I would have to look it up), or the exact price of the discounted Cheers! package (I suppose I might be able to dig up my old S&S print-outs, but don't feel like making that kinda effort for this).

But this much I can swear to: Cheers! has, at least once, gone on sale.  And I bought it at the sale price onboard Carnival Pride on Embarkation Day.

Since the restart we have enjoyed the booking code "RU2" with Cheers! substantially discounted as part of the fare a few times. Unfortunately,  when I search new for fares lately this code seems to  have vanished.

It was a significant savings over  the pre-cruise Cheers! purchase price.

So I know I said I didn't feel like going to the effort of digging it up, but then I figured I didn't have too much else going on this morning and i was curious to confirm the date of the cruise we bought Cheers! on sale.  So after digging through the basement file cabinets, I found it!  My Sail & Sign print-out from our Carnival Pride 9/21/2014 cruise.  The very first charge is on Embarkation Day, at 1:38 PM, Renaissance Lobby for a total of $603.76.  That's the discounted Cheers! package for my DH and me.

$603.76 / 2 (people) = $301.88 (each person for entire week)

$301.88 / 7 (cruise days) = $43.13 (each person per day Cheers! price)

This total included any applicable taxes and fees.  We were still docked at Baltimore when I bought it, so I assume part of what I paid the MD state sales tax of 6%.

So, Cheers! was definitely sold at a discount in September of 2014 onboard the ship on Embarkation Day.

But, as I said, I don't expect it ever will be again.

I have never seen or heard of a Cheers sale.

Right before covid, Carnival ran a 20% off Cheers sale. It was the first time I'd ever seen them do that in the nearly 10 years I've been cruising. We purchased it but then that cruise got canceled.

Luckily we got to take advantage off the free Cheers offer once things restarted.

this is what I'm referring to.... we took this offer without blinking. Not huge drinkers so have a hard time justifying the cost unless we get a sale. Agree with above no more RU2 codes.

This is the only time I remember a Cheers sale, I doubt barely anyone who purchased it was able to actually use it.  Our cruise was cancelled too.

Me too!  Cruise over Labor Day weekend 2014.  And DH and I were on Victory with NO ALCHEMY BAR.  BOOOOO!!!  I bought it at the discount rate.  So Unicorns do exist😉

Same, somehow we were able to move it to a new booking

Best way to save now is buy Cheers before the cruise for the lower price with the 10 percent off gift cards purchased through AARP or Allstate rewards. If you use your BofA cash rewards card set to online purchases to buy these gift cards that will yield you another 3 percent off. If you purchase this way your daily cost will be 61.54 instead of 70.74 per day including the 18 percent gratuity.

If you gamble, they're winning to comp drinks (In casino or out) because they believe they'll make up the difference in your casino losses. For me, that'd be true and more than fair.

If you're not a degenerate gambler, like myself, their only other real hopes of making up money on you is the peripheral sales items, number one of that being booze, then other add ons like the spa as well other shipboard sales and also excursions.

They're suffering financially, have to be, so priority #1 is "Butt in seats" and then it's sell you as much as they can while spending as little on you as possible.

Welcome to business

They might have a black Friday sale on some pre-cruise items to stimulate spending.

Likely candidates are:

- spa (I got a discount on this last week)

- gift baskets (like treats)

- pixels

- celebration packages

Excursions also, but I think less likely than the other.

Cheers actually is a possibility. With so many people choosing a rate that includes it, cheers sales may be slow. It'll depend on if the economists conclude whether a lower cost would increase or decrease revenue.
