I never actually got the Ruben, but I had them put corn beef on top of my cheeseburger, and it was delicious.  This became my nightly goto instead of the wings.  I put mustard on it, but now I wish I would have thought about having them put the Russian dressing on it.  Next time....

Great idea!!   We will definitely request this in March on our next sailing.

The best wings I've had when either on the NCL Majesty or the NCL Spirit many years ago doing a Bermuda cruise out of Boston.  But I've had them on other NCL ships too since then, and they have never been as good as they were years ago.

The Majesty….those were the days as well.

This thread is great. I love hearing about people’s opinions and tastes. Thanks for sharing!

That’s what I feel cruise “critic” is about.  It’s ok to not like everything…and ok to share.  I enjoy reading good and bad after all my years here.  I usually do a live lately but there’s two right now.  I’ll post a review at home though I think and of course I’ll update my blog.  Alpacamybagsblog dot com with tons of food porn.   If you want the good wing pics….check out the Feb Haven cruise on Joy or club balcony one in June.
And here’s a bonus.   The crab toast at Raw Bar.  Oh wow.  It’s out of this world.  Extra charge or you can use dining there (four items).  I might have to get it one more time.  I also learned you can order full menu from ocean blue at bar

Are you sure you are in the right forums?  This is Cruise Critic and that's not how people behave here.

If I gave up cruising for each time something wasn’t “perfect” I’d have a very small signature.  The little imperfections honestly sometimes make memories.  Travel isn’t perfect but neither am I!

Ahem, if we're going to talk sandwiches, please let's spell them correctly. It's Reuben, not Ruben. The latter is a man's name. 😉

With that said, I did not know they used to serve mozzarella sticks. My vegetarian wife would love to see that! I am honestly looking forward to having someone else cook the meals for a change, whether it's wings and sandwiches at O'Sheehan's, pasta at La Cucina, steak at Cagney's, or the buffet. On our last NCL cruise (September 2021) we were blown away by the taste and selections at the buffet. I think we'll be happy with whatever they give us. Bring on the food!! 😀😀

Just off the Pearl this AM. We went to O'Sheehan's for lunch on embarkation day. Ordered Coney Island hot dogs and plain, crispy chicken wings. The hot dogs were a poor imitation of what a hot dog should be, and the rolls were blackened and burnt. The chicken wings. They were, without a doubt, the worst wings we have ever been served. It was almost like they didn't have any plain wings, so someone took some hot wings and washed the sauce off . Then put them in a, I think, microwave oven and then served them to us. They were limp and disgusting.

O'Sheehan's has always been our favorite place to get a quick bite. Even as soon as our last cruise in April, the wings were always a treat. Not anymore!!  Also had breakfast there the next morning which was almost as bad.

We're not foodies at all. Most of the time, anything will do, as long as it's edible. But this time, O'Sheehan's didn't make the cut.

Here’s to hoping NCL monitors forums like this and takes notice. This problem is easily remedied.

I'll be on the Getaway next week and I'm debating whether to warn my boyfriend before he beelines it over to O'Sheehans once we embark. He loves their wings and he will definitely have an opinion if there is any difference from when we sailed in 2021. He is an extremely picky eater, and if he doesn't like something, he'll let you know. The wings are his go to when we return from an excursion or he's looking for a late night snack. There's a little bit of me that is curious to see if he'll notice the difference. At least now I'll be prepared if he notices! ☺️

Hey!  I'm on the cruise with you...  See you in a few days

Has anyone ever requested that they wanted the wings "well done"....I don't know if they would even bother to do it, but it can't hurt to ask.

I get customers at my restaurant that ask for extra crispy. I’m not a cruise ship, but I’m always happy to accommodate.

I have before yes because I used to find they were not well cooked when they're busy.

It might be hard to get crispy if baked

Yet more proof that the most consistent thing about NCL is how inconsistent they are.

In September on the Joy the asian chili wings were extremely spicy - like hotter than the buffalo. They used to be a good mix of sweet and spicy, now they were just 3 glasses of water chugging hot.

We'll try them again in February when we return, and I'm sure they'll be back to 'normal'.

After reading this discussion a few weeks ago, we made sure to try the wings at the Local last week. I now see what some people were saying. These buffalo wings look great, right? The flavor was good, and they were big and juicy. BUT yeah, not at all crisp. They looked like they'd be crisp, but alas, no.

When I was on a trip with the Irish surf team in South Africa the catering at the team hotel was Indian and the lads all unsuspecting ladled what they thought were green beans onto their plates. Once they bit into them they discovered they were very hot peppers, they all gaspingly requested glasses of milk, and one of the team who lived in the Canary Islands told them all to take a spoonful of sugar.  Either approach would be far more effective than water.
