Finally found another way to log in to CC on my phone..hope it keeps working..My tee shirt usually reads ", operator error" but this one was not on me! Old dogs  can sometines learn new tricks!

Sorry you are delayed..that's why we  usually arrive a day or two ahead, if flying. ( Hope that other couple makes it in time.) An early bird cocktail or 2 may help u pass the time.!

We are  already in Fl at our snowbird nest and working hard at hurricane clean up.  Hope to setout to FLL around 10.. it's a 3 hr drive but you never know so an early start helps.

If we can't get early check  in we will find ways  amuse ourselves...17th street area has lots to offer.

Safe travels..

I think you may be right on the cocktail front! Once I finish this last contract review I think I’ll treat myself to a mimosa 😁

I hope you have a smooth drive to FLL! Safe travels!

"So to bid $400 total, I slid the bid bar out to $200."

Ah, got it...thanks so much! So I'll just keep waiting for sales that waive the single supp.

Well, I've got my beach chair and popcorn all set for your journey!!

While the husband and ticket agent were going back and forth, the wife stepped over to the side towards me and shouted to her husband  “I’m gonna call Carnival and see if they can hold the ship for an extra half hour to give us a little more time.”  I didn’t feel it was my place to tell her not to waste her cell phone battery cuz I’m pretty sure that’s not a thing that cruise lines do.  Hopefully they make it!

Wow, I just told my husband this story and even he laughed (he works for US/Canada brokerage so is pretty familiar with borders and ports).
I have a cruise March 2 and I booked my flight for Feb 28 because I figured I'm flying from Canada to Florida in the winter so regular delays and you don't know weather. My flight there and back has already been changed and we're months out but at least I'm still 2 days prior to cruise.

Darn airline delays!!!  We are scheduled for a flight pre-Equinox cruise in February...original departure from ORD is 6:50am with arrival in FLL at 10:48am.  I got a notice a couple of days ago that we are now scheduled to depart at 10am with arrival at 2:12pm.  Fortunately, we fly two days ahead of the cruise; but it's still a major annoyance!  Seems to be happening more and more lately.

Hopefully, that's the last challenge you face before boarding Beyond.

Susan

Hi Susan! I’ve also had that struggle. I have another cruise in January and my flights for that have already changed twice.  The latest return flight change is especially unattractive but I’ve decided to wait till the end of this month to reach out to AA about switching to a better option.  Just in case they decide to change it again in the meantime.

Air Canada did that to me. The return flight was supposed to be 2pm to Toronto and then 5pm from Toronto to Windsor. They changed it to 5pm from Miami to Toronto and then 9am the next day from Toronto to Windsor. Needless to say that's not going to work for me. I'll work from Miami one day and shop if I have to but spending 11hours for a lay over in Toronto is not going to happen

The friends that I travel with are adamant they will will never fly AA, but end up booking with them anyway!  I pick the carrier with the best time to travel and cost...typically a toss up between AA and UA.  My requirements are few...please get both me and my luggage to my destination safely!

Charla!!!  I am so envious and excited for your next adventure.   We are currently on the Nieuw Statendam.  We have received a few casino offers since the Summit but haven't been able to work it into our schedule.  Have a fabulous cruise, beautiful lady!

OMG hi!  I hope you guys are having a wonderful cruise on HAL!  It was so much fun sailing with you. Have you booked anything for 2023 summer yet?  Jeremy and I are planning to cruise for my birthday again but haven’t decided on details. Would love to cruise with you again!

Same here! I usually fly AA because they have the best premium cabin price and most direct flight options from STL to the places I fly most.  I used to fly Delta a lot and was very happy with them, but then they started routing almost everything that leaves STL through Atlanta…and there are few airports (with the notable exception of CLT) that I dislike more than ATL.

When the nicest thing I can say about an airport is that they have a decent P.F. Chang’s, that’s saying something.

Im so sorry to hear you got sick!  I will definitely email you next week once I get home and settled. Nothing treats post cruise withdrawals like starting to plan a new one. 😁

Ok guys, things are looking up: I’m at my gate. 10 minutes to boarding.  We have a plane and we have what looks like a full flight crew waiting to board. All signs pointing to wheels up soon! 🤞🏾

We'll see if they can hold the evening cocktails for you! Much more likely than a ship! 😜

When I checked my bag, there was a couple at the next ticket counter having an epic freak out because they are supposed to board a Carnival cruise today and there was only 1 rebook option available that would get them to MIA with a prayer of making the ship (and from the sound of the discussion, even that one was going to be cutting it close).

Uh...betting the woman did not realize they must be on the ship 90 min. prior to departure...

Ugh. Makes my heart hurt.

In 20+ cruises, we have flew day of 3x. Only 1 was our choice. Luckily all worked out.

But we fly in day prior always...and now even choose flights to connecting cities with more flights to our destination after our flight...JUST in case. (not a lot of direct from OMA to cruise ports)

Same, where I am there is no direct flight UNLESS I drive across to the US and fly. But I got a good deal with my flight and I didn't have to deal wit border crossing, extra hotel and either driving and parking my car or a taxi to Detroit. So connecting flight it is, plus I get free luggage this way.

Gen X  hope you have/ had a smooth flight. S

The drive from Venice to  Embassy Suite was awful....good weather but lots of truck and construction  traffic.. west coast still working on  clean up from the last storm.  We would not drive it again.  Has become unpleasant..

Dinner at La Bomba was excellent..so was the sangria. It  started to drizzle as we walked back to the hotel and then a downpour hit..soaked to the skin. Sending out for dessert and hot coffee! Sorry to miss the cocktail hour...

Hope tom  goes okay..if  the weather is windy and or wet we will regretfully skip the sail away!  ( Charla..we will find you..maybe at Bistro Cafe to make final plans for The Gatsby event! )

Safe trvls to all..

Will charge our devices overnight.

Miami at last!

Currently in my Uber (albeit in heavy rainy traffic, but hey, I’m here!) making my way to Red and I’s hotel in Dania Beach in FLL.

For all the strife getting onto it, once my flight took off, it was a smooth experience.  In the past when I had a flight that was severely delayed, first class was not re-catered for the new departure time.  I was fully prepared to have my pre-reserved 5am flight breakfast of a smoked salmon bagel and fruit at 2pm.  This flight though they did switch it to lunch and had a choice of a small (meh) shrimp salad or a fruit and cheese plate.

Our first class flight attendant was friendly and attentive and as you can see, had a very loose wrist with the wine bottle.

About half of our half full flight looked to be uniformed AA crew who were going to Miami either to meet new assigned routes due to crew staffing hiccups elsewhere in the system today or heading home for their days off 24 hours late after being stranded in other cities due to flight issues last night.  AA must have had a rough start to the week in the Midwest.

The young woman flight attendant sitting next to me was in the latter group and we ended up chatting and hitting it off.  I found out that in addition to being a flight attendant, she’s also studying to get her commercial pilot’s license! She had some great stories from some of her flight school experiences.  We ended up exchanging Insta handles to keep in touch.  How I do enjoy meeting interesting people when I travel.

Red’s Southwest flight to FLL had no delays, so she’s been in and settled for several hours.  She went to dinner without me given my late arrival but we plan to have a reunion drink once I get checked in at the hotel.  Then I’ll head to my room, take care of a few last work emails, and maybe order an Uber eats snack in PJs before an early bedtime.

Talk to you all on Embarkation Day!

We just got off the summit on October 27 after 24 glorious days. Putri is the best! Please say hello to her from Mary and David Boyd. We told Kyle that he's a lucky man! Enjoy your cruise!

I'm so happy that you met Putri and Kyle.  Putri is amazing and hubby/I are looking forwarded to meeting Kyle. I just sent Putri a message that both of you said hello!

Thanks for the cruise wishes. Just hope Nicole doesn't delay us getting on the ship.  Most importantly, just hope that everyone will be safe.
