A second ship is truly unrealistic given their historic track record up there struggling to fill a Spirit Class vessel. So with that being the case and with the company's desire to have a differentiated product in the Costa by Carnival branding, I wonder if an eventual 'dancing of the ships' is in order. Perhaps Venezia eventually swaps out with Horizon in MIA. That way NYC gets 12 month service from a classic Carnival ship and MIA gets a differentiated product offering. Long Beach doesn't have the same issus with Firenza as that port will surely have multiple Carnival vessels. My sincere hope is that Firenza does the same kind of multiple interesting itineraries down the Mexican Riviera, Hawaii and Pacific coasts that they are planning out of NYC. I doubt there will be a year round carnival cruise out of NYC.
sgttami Posted November 14, 2022 #53 Share Posted November 14, 2022 Nice to see a different ship in NYC and it's one of my favorite ports to leave from. Just wish any ship sailed from NYC in winter. Miss those days!

Taking our 7 and 5 year old grand daughters on their FIRST cruise. NO WATERWORKS on this ship. NO SLIDES for the kids. This is not going to be an UP grade from the Magic. There are full kids facilities, slides, ropes course. What makes you think there isn't?

Has some nice longer 8-12 day itineraries to the Eastern and Southern Caribbean and not just the generic boring 8-Day to Bahamas.

With longer winter cruises then your generic 8 day to The Bahamas, should hopefully help with that. But Venezia competes with Meraviglia which is also doing year round service in the area for the first time, and MSC has barely been in the area so that will be interesting to see how it plays out. Hopefully they don't swap out with Horizon, Florida gets most of the new and unique ships with few exceptions as it is. Will Long Beach be able to fill Panorama, Miracle, Radiance and now Firenze? kwokpot Posted November 14, 2022 #57 Share Posted November 14, 2022 The Venezia should satisfy the critics that complained the Vista Class was 'Boring and Bland' and actually liked the older Farcus designed ships that had some FUN,COLOR,STYLE ELEMENTS designed into them. So here's a ship that's has an updated decor, a THEME, and crazy, fun design elements (a real Venetian Gondola in the MDR!!!).

We don't know Panorama's plans after April 2024, which is likely when we can expect Firenze to transfer over. That's not to say Panorama is on the move, but one of Miracle, Radiance, or Panorama likely will be.

Miracle I think stays in SF/LB because it is perfect for Alaska Firenze would probably end up doing the longer cruises, so maybe Panorama's 7 days or something new. Panorama could do 3+4, with Radiance going to Caribbean or Panorama could go to Caribbean. I think Radiance is good with 3+4 as Panorama might be too big I would like if Firenze does US coastals or long cruises to places Panorama and the others don't cover. Rare natefish95 Posted November 14, 2022 #64 Share Posted November 14, 2022 I actually really like the itineraries. Have my eye on a Canada/New England cruise in September 2023, but also like one of the 12 day Journeys cruises in February 2024. Decisions, decisions. Really glad John Heald did videos from the ships. Definitely ups the excitement I think.

Her low profile is valuable other places (like if either of the 2 Fantasy boats retires). I do agree that 4 ships in Cali is probably more than Carnival can fill. She doesn't fit through the New locks at Panama? I thought that she did. But anyway..... I too very much hope they expand the offerings from Long Beach. I 100% agree that Miracle is a fantastic Alaska boat. I guess they can approach it one of a few ways such as having a ship do longer cruises and adding interest to their offerings on the left coast OR by having Miracle seasonally go through the Canal from Alaska back to the Caribbean, maybe as the Tampa weekender if Paradise retires. It's nice to have new tonnage. I hope that business is good enough that Carnival can continue to expand their offerings and selection nationwide. tidecat Posted November 14, 2022 #68 Share Posted November 14, 2022 The easiest thing to do would be to move Miracle down to San Diego, and let Miracle reposition seasonally to San Francisco for Alaska. There might also be some merit in sending Miracle to Jacksonville during the winter to serve those previously served by Charleston, as Jacksonville is the next closest port for most in Georgia and South Carolina. This would keep the ship open for Alaska service from San Francisco (or Seattle) during the summer
edspec Posted November 15, 2022 #69 Share Posted November 15, 2022 Got a great deal on the transatlantic, $330 for solo inside, w/ $200 obc. It was a casino offer, don't know why I'm getting those all of a sudden since I've never put even a nickle into the slots or played any table games, but the second time in the past two weeks that I've been able to book a very inexpensive cruise.
Rare pyropoodle Posted November 15, 2022 #70 Share Posted November 15, 2022 I got the email as well that they changed my August 2023 cruise to this ship. i was initially stoked, then I found this thread, then I had a mild panic attack when someone said there were no waterslides for the kids and no camp ocean, then I was relieved when 10 people posted pics of the waterslides and said "heck yeah there are waterslides and camp ocean for the kiddies" so now my panic attack is done and I have nothing further to add to the convo, but the fact that i booked a balcony on the old ship and was hoping to upgrade to a suite. the Suites have been sold out for months on the old ship, so no dice...do we think there are more suites on this ship? carnival.com still saying sold out, but i suspect that is due to the shuffling of everyone as well. no matter, i'mma cruise and have a great time and the kids are going to enjoy some waterslidesssss. I don't see why not, California has a much bigger population and plenty of residents in surrounding states like AZ and NV that drive in regularly, we even have lots of folks from WA & OR who drive up and down I-5. If Florida can fill ships then there is no reason California couldn't do the same to a lesser degree (with FL being a retiree state). Folks already associate FL with cruising and there needs to be some more outreach/education out west, there are so many people who have never cruised or even really know about cruising. There is a huge untapped customer base out west. I have plenty of friends, family and acquaintances who have never stepped foot on a ship, the few I have introduced have loved it. Sure California does not have the port support that FL does but that is another opportunity as well. Grease some palms and work around the likes of hater Doris Matsui to get some port infrastructure improvements and public outreach. Get folks to try the product and the numbers will swell out west. Someone previously stated that there are less suites on this ship. My issue is that i booked connecting balcony cabins as I did on the Magic when I sailed her in 2019. I hope they can find connecting cabins on deck 7 or 8 for this ship. I called carnival and texted my PVP but they say they have to wait and the changes will be made by 11/21. I am very specific when I book because I want to make sure the family have a good time. That's why deck 7 or 8 is perfect on this ship. I had 7223 and 7227 on the Magic booked.
