Navigation to White Bay Terminal

I'm hoping someone who has recently departed from White Bay can confirm how to get there.

In mid January I'm embarking on an NCL cruise. Most likely I'll be taking an Uber from my hotel at Barangaroo.

From what I hear, relying on Google maps will get you lost because you need to go via James Craig Rd. Is this correct? Looks like I may have to do the navigating.

Sorry not a Sydney sider, but we have done the trip, and yes its easy to get lost, really plan your trip, you won't regret it.

The worst part of it is, Barangaroo was supposed to have been the cruise port, until James Packer convinced the NSW government to allow him to build he's casino there.

We did a couple of cruises from there before he stuffed it up, just wheeled our our cases down the hill from Napoleon on Kent hotel about a 5 to 8 minute walk to the cruise dock, oh how I wish money didn't talk.

I actually won a night at the casino,  which I'm using pre-cruise.

The hotel is 6 stars with 6 star prices. The casino is finally open but only for "VIPs"

After crossing the Anzac Bridge, turn hard left at the second set of traffic lights into James Craig Road, The last couple of times we went there pre-pandemic, there were signs 'White Bay Cruise Terminal' (or similar wording) - different from the early days after White Bay opened.

Yes, Google Maps is wrong. But it's easy. After crossing the Anzac Bridge stay in the left lane and you will see the sign for the cruise terminal left turn into James Craig Rd. Then you just follow that road around.

James Craig Rd is correct (then Solomans Way, Port Access Rd, Robert St.

The security gate at Ruchanan/Robert Sts in Ultimo is closed for cruise access.

That was not the case when I dropped off my daughter two weeks ago. I was able to enter and exit via Robert's rd. The boom gate raised after I came to a stop when leaving. I noticed a few hardy souls walking in with their luggage.

There are frequent bus services on the main road.  We used to walk from Drummoyne, past turnoff to Whites Bay, then past the small ship terminal (now Barangaroo), along the waterfront to Circular Quay.  It was a lovely walk without luggage.

Aren't they running the ferry from Circular Quay to White Bay anymore? They used to run it the days ships docked at White Bay. Years ago,.

No. Not enough patronage for Captain Cook cruises to resume the service.

Do you think that cruise may have been more successful if it was a council ferry?  I thought it was rather expensive seeing you had to cart your own luggage.

Not really. It would just make it tax payer subsidised, but no more convenient.

That is correct almost a kilometer to walk past the car park to the cruise terminal dragging your luggage so regardless of who operated a ferry I would not use it again  I rather use a taxi from Centre or Town Hall or even Wynyard
