DT1304 Posted December 4, 2022 #1 Share Posted December 4, 2022 (edited) Are we allowed to bring a Dyson Airwrap on board and does it work on board? We are on Ovation in a couple of weeks Edited December 4, 2022 by DT1304
Porky55 Posted December 4, 2022 #2 Share Posted December 4, 2022 (edited) Not sure the ship will have the voltage (240V) to actually operate it at enough power to style your hair, unless it actually switches between 110V (US) and 240V (AU)? You could bring it and try, but be prepared for a chance that they query it as it will look 'strange' on the X-ray scan. We had an electric shaver queried and had to rescue it (and it's suitcase) late at night from Guest Services 😳 Edited December 4, 2022 by Porky55
Auscruisefam Posted December 4, 2022 #3 Share Posted December 4, 2022 I did bring my Dyson Airwrap on Princess in Sep. It worked and I wasn’t questioned on having it.

Rare arxcards Posted December 4, 2022 #5 Share Posted December 4, 2022 As far as I can tell, the Airwrap is not "dual voltage", so will not work with US adaptor pins in a US outlet. However, the cabin also has a Euro socket which is a suitable voltage/cycle to operate a 240V appliance. You will need a Euro to AU pin adaptor. Rare MicCanberra Posted December 4, 2022 #6 Share Posted December 4, 2022 If it has surge protection, it will definitely not be allowed if they spot it.

There usually a table on debarkation of all the electrical things confiscated . There’s a hair dryer in the cabin
DT1304 Posted December 4, 2022 Author #9 Share Posted December 4, 2022 Yep, thanks Chili. I remember seeing that table of confiscated items on previous cruises. Its for my daughter and I have told her she will have to make do with the dryer in the cabin.
shipgeeks Posted December 13, 2022 #10 Share Posted December 13, 2022 I've read reports here on CC of Dyson, specifically, not working, and possibly ruining itself in the process. Other brands are fine, though I always just use the ship one. It might be worth doing a CC search for Dyson posts.
Joan42 Posted December 14, 2022 #11 Share Posted December 14, 2022 I have used a Dyson hairdryer on Celebrity Solstice and Ovation of the Seas with no issues.
