For missing a couple of ports, yes, a 50% refund AND a 25% FCC, is generous.

That’s what I was thinking. I’d take it in a heart beat and not complain, but I understand it’s not as easy for others to get time off, corral family members, etc as it is for some people.

It's a much bigger bummer to pay the money for international flights, extra hotel days in those international ports, etc, and then have a very expensive cruise basically sit in the middle of the ocean for 4 days. I'd want more money back than 50%, but it's better than nothing.

I usually spend about $6,000 "all-in" on a Caribbean cruise for 2 people. A 50% refund on a cruise that I would easily take again the next year would be sufficient for me.

But next year I'm spending about $30,000 for an international cruise (most of that is airfare and hotels in 2 different countries). The cruise itself is supposed to stop at 6 ports that I would likely never visit on a land vacation, and would probably not book again anytime in the near future, so if it only made it to one or two ports and then sat in the middle of the ocean for 8 days and they only gave me back half my money, I wouldn't be very happy. All that other money I'm spending to take this trip is money I wouldn't be spending if not for the cruise. And if I knew the cruise was just gonna be a bunch of days at sea, no way would I spend all that money, and a $3000 refund (50% of the cruise fare) would not make up for that.

But it's the risk we take I guess. It's also why I buy very comprehensive insurance that pays me if there's itinerary changes.

Pretty much what happened to us on the cruise a few weeks ago on Ovation. A 22 hour flight to Australia for a b2b, the first cruise ended up having 2 ports in 10 days with no compensation then I tested positive for covid and had to miss the second one.

Disappointing, I'll admit there were a few moments that I felt gutted and just wanted to go home but we tried to make the best of it and ended up still enjoying the holiday.

As you say it's a risk we take and sometimes that's just life and we have to go with it. We'll certainly always remember our first trip to Australia.

Sounds like the only option is to reduce weight on the ship to increase speed, therefore I believe all passengers should toss their long pants overboard and commit to wearing shorts in the MDR and on formal night!

If that isn’t enough weight savings, I heard that Pinnacles get priority debarkation so maybe we can debark them all today?

Pinnacles always get first priority to "all" events. Is walking the plank considered an entertainment event🤔😁?  I guess it depends on who is in the audience and who is performing in the event. 🤣

We are on the next sailing and get onboard in few hours. Haven't been notified of it being cancelled yet. Will keep an eye out.

We were given this cruise as a wedding gift. Wondering if they cancel ports or the entire sailing will the refund go back to the person who booked it or would it come back to a nominated bank account?

Honestly we just want a holiday as we have been waiting for this for 3 years now (since we got married). Fingers crossed.

Welcome to CC.

Refunds usually go to the card/payment which booked the cruise.

I asked yesterday, whether we could get a cash refund. No it must go back to the credit card linked to paying for on board expenses for the cruise!

If you really want the cash, you can either try the casino method mentioned above or change your account to cash and then ask again for cash.

Did you have any luck at the casino with your OBC?

No I didn’t, they said they could issue a voucher in the Casino. I just thought if I could get cash for the compensation it would save me conversion fees. I thought I heard someone say they got cash, but we didn’t!

Any casual reader....., 😁

It probably comes up weekly so as long one browses these threads for about a week, you'd probably run across the cashing out via the casino slot machine in some thread.

I have read many threads but I never went to the casinos. I was never a gambler. Now I know a sure bet.  😁

Ouch! 😬

Get ready for this !

N.Z. Is a very pristine place and has some of the toughest bio security laws in the world. And Ovation arrives there to the most pristine place,Milford Sound on Tuesday.

I think it’s 4 Carnival Group ships have just been ordered out of NZ waters because of exotic marine growth. Mainly snails in the water intakes.

They have to go to a dry dock or be cleaned in International waters.

I can see the writing on the wall .
