I booked an appointment online at Service Canada in Kelowna for October 18th. A week prior to my appointment I walked into the local BCCA office and had the required photos taken at a cost of $10.08. I arrived for my appointment a few minutes early with my completed renewal application and my photos and was on my way out within 20 minutes. I retained my old passport after a few holes were punched through it. My new passport was delivered to me on November 6. Regards, Paul We'll be booking our appointment to the Kelowna Service Canada office early next year. Thanks for the info on the ease of the process. CGinMTL Posted December 5, 2023 #102 Share Posted December 5, 2023 I just sent my request via Purolator today The website says 20 working days My next trip is may 2024, I expect to get it back in Jan 2024. I mailed to Gatineau office, all my passports usually get issued from there. Will be happy if I get the " old stock "
CGinMTL Posted December 22, 2023 #103 Share Posted December 22, 2023 I need to vent. My doc's were just returned to me I had an error in my credit card number Why do they ask for a phone no if they can't be bothered to call. Whole thing could have been resolved in 5 min. Took them more time ( and extra expense,) to return everything to me Seriously. I am not a happy camper

I know what I would do" Time to listen to your own excellent advice.

mahi mahi Posted December 29, 2023 #106 Share Posted December 29, 2023 Does anyone know if the rule about passports being valid for six months following disembarkation from your cruise uses calendar months or 184 days to determine validity? our cruise ends April 7 and my passport expires October 15. I've never seen any related requirement use terminology other than the number of months. So six months is six months, whether or not they include a February or a leap year where the day count would be different.
helovestrains Posted December 29, 2023 #108 Share Posted December 29, 2023 My six month expiry date was 03 Sep and the cruise returned 02 Sep. Didn't have any problems. I just went with the six month ruling.

I got mine both on the same day, but others have reported a big difference.
SailorJoe22 Posted January 20 #112 Share Posted January 20 I recently had to renew my passport, and the process was very simple. I lined up an hour before the office opened and was the first in line. Ten minutes after I arrived, the line had grown to about 40 people. I was in and out in 15 minutes, and the turnaround time is 7 days (with the $50 rush fee). The later in the day the more busy the office is.

I was hoping for a reply from somebody who had actually just received theirs I think that the link provided by @broberts is probably more useful than anecdotal posts from recent recipients. As the website explains, there are many variables affecting the turnaround time, including whether you drop off your application at a passport office or simply mail it in. So, for example, everything else being equal, a person mailing an application at a community mailbox after the daily pickup on a Friday heading into a long weekend will potentially take three days longer than someone mailing an application at exactly the same mailbox the following Tuesday.

To reduce the possibility of clerical errors (on my part ;o) I had an appointment on 22 March with a local Service Canada outlet near me (not a Passport Office) to review the application paperwork. My new 10 year passport, effective date 23 April arrived in early May. YMMV of course.
Dismomx5 Posted July 3 #120 Share Posted July 3 I did a renewal in June. I chose a small Service Canada to drop it off because a friend had dropped hers off the week before noting how easy and fast it was. My scheduled time was Tuesday at 1:00. I was a bit early and was served at 12:50. Out shortly after 1. The passport was in my hand the next Tuesday morning. So a week. My friend was still waiting, but had probably renewed more than one. We were both told a 3 week turnaround.

I was in and out in 30 minutes, but it could have been quicker; the nice lady handling my paperwork got chatting about her experiences applying for her first NEXUS card.

I applied on December 12th, 2022 in person at our local Service Canada office and received it by courier today, December 28th, 2022. Not a bad turn around time especially when you consider it was processed over Christmas. Also, I didn't pay to have it expedited. Any updates on new wait times? We would be going into the Vancouver office.
CGinMTL Posted July 29 #123 Share Posted July 29 My son in law is leaving Sunday. They charged his card 2 weeks ago and he still does not have it. He has an apt at the passeport office tomorrow. Was there around 3pm. A lady and I were in line. A staff initially told us we may not get to be processed that day. He continued to tell others lining up behind us as they came. Eventually the lady and I were called in and we got processed. My application was reviewed, and I was told exactly as the website indicated. I was given a choice to pick up (10 business days), wait for it to be sent to my home (20 business days), etc. I chose to pick up for an additional $20 fee, and was given a slip to pick up after 10 business days. I asked if it's ready earlier would I get a call to pick up earlier. She said no, no earlier than 10 business days. Not sure why cGinMTL doesn't believe what the website or others say. But here is recently real experience.
CGinMTL Posted July 29 #125 Share Posted July 29 Update from son in law The passeport was " held from processing" 2 weeks ago Reason, he had forgotten to write " Montreal, pq. On his business address. Nobody contacted him, papers were not returned. He now asked for " rush" service. He should have it Thursday at noon.
