I had to renew my passport recently and it was very simple.  I booked an appointment online at Service Canada in Kelowna for October 18th.  A week prior to my appointment I walked into the local BCCA office and had the required photos taken at a cost of $10.08.  I arrived for my appointment a few minutes early with my completed renewal application and my photos and was on my way out within 20 minutes.  I retained my old passport after a few holes were punched through it.  My new passport was delivered to me on November 6.  Regards, Paul

We'll be booking our appointment to the Kelowna Service Canada office early next year. Thanks for the info on the ease of the process.

I just sent my request via Purolator today

The website says 20 working days

My next trip is may 2024, I expect to get it back in Jan 2024.

I mailed to Gatineau office, all my passports usually get issued from there.

Will be happy if I get the " old stock "

I need to vent.

My doc's were just returned to me

I had an error in my credit card number

Why do they ask for a phone no if they can't be bothered to call.

Whole thing could have been resolved in 5 min.

Took them more time ( and extra expense,) to return everything to me

Seriously. I am not a happy camper

A couple of weeks ago, in response to another poster's passport issue, you made the following comment:  "You can stress about it, or Just do it and forget about it. I know what I would do"

Time to listen to your own excellent advice.

Does anyone know if the rule about passports being valid for six months following disembarkation from your cruise uses calendar months or 184 days to determine validity?

our cruise ends April 7 and my passport expires October 15.

I've never seen any related requirement use terminology other than the number of months. So six months is six months, whether or not they include a February or a leap year where the day count would be different.

Take just dropped off my passeport renewal form at a service Canada office

Great option

Super friendly

Took less then 1 hr

They say current delay is about 1 month

I should get it back around Feb 10th

Definitely, this is my new method.

Strongly recommend it

2 weeks tomorrow and my old passeport was returned to me today ( voided).

So new one should be right behind

It’s very strange the discrepancies as to which is returned first, and how far between the two. I got mine both on the same day, but others have reported a big difference.

I recently had to renew my passport, and the process was very simple. I lined up an hour before the office opened and was the first in line. Ten minutes after I arrived, the line had grown to about 40 people. I was in and out in 15 minutes, and the turnaround time is 7 days (with the $50 rush fee). The later in the day the more busy the office is.

Thank you. I was hoping for a reply from somebody who had actually just received theirs

I think that the link provided by @broberts is probably more useful than anecdotal posts from recent recipients. As the website explains, there are many variables affecting the turnaround time, including whether you drop off your application at a passport office or simply mail it in. So, for example, everything else being equal, a person mailing an application at a community mailbox after the daily pickup on a Friday heading into a long weekend will potentially take three days longer than someone mailing an application at exactly the same mailbox the following Tuesday.

Can somebody post the actual process time currently

Please / thank you

I submitted my Passport renewal application in mid-March. To reduce the possibility of clerical errors (on my part ;o) I had an appointment on 22 March with a local Service Canada outlet near me (not a Passport Office) to review the application paperwork.  My new 10 year passport, effective date 23 April arrived in early May. YMMV of course.

I did a renewal in June. I chose a small Service Canada to drop it off because a friend had dropped hers off the week before noting how easy and fast it was. My scheduled time was Tuesday at 1:00. I was a bit early and was served at 12:50. Out shortly after 1. The passport was in my hand the next Tuesday morning. So a week. My friend was still waiting, but had probably renewed more than oneWe were both told a 3 week turnaround.

That's exactly why I also chose an out of the way Service Canada office over a Passport office. When I showed up the place was virtually deserted. I was in and out in 30 minutes, but it could have been quicker; the nice lady handling my paperwork got chatting about her experiences applying for her first NEXUS card.
