myki Explorer Melbourne?

No, I'm not saying that at all. All I was saying is that to be able to use the offers to various attractions, you will need the Explorer Myki card. I believe the card is able to have more money added to it, just like my own Myki card. If you interested in the Explorer Myki and want to confirm this, I suggest you email the PTV and ask - ticketingservices@ptv.vic.gov.au - just so you know for sure.

Awesome 🙂

Thank you once more!

John

The stop where the 109 bus terminates is also the stop for the 58 tram (Toorak to West Coburg).  This tram travels along Williams St into Victoria St with a stop at Victoria Market. It also has stops at Collins St and Bourke St where you can change to trams travelling down into the main shopping area.

Not any more. They removed that particular tram stop over a year ago. The 109 Cruise shuttle bus does still terminate there but folks have to go back and cross Flinders street to under the train bridge to find the relocated tram stops for the 58.
There is generally a PTV uniformed employee in the vicinity giving directions.

According to the PTV site, that tram stop seems alive and well. When I was there in early December,  a bus service replaced the first one or two stops towards Coburg (the QV market) due to roadworks but there is no mention of that now in the PTV journey planner. 😕

I literally live there! I can see the non existent stop from my window. I watched its removal.
We have advised tramtracker and PTV their maps and stops have been out of date for 13 months.

The bus service replacement in Dec was for a separate reason relating to the tunnel works. We were advised of this in advance by PTV in writing as it affected our deliveries & Ubers etc.

Your map doesn't show the city side of the river. There are now two stops (one in each direction) directly under the train bridge.

The cruise shuttle buses park in the bus bays beside the Immigration Museum.

I do know that you live there!  But I'm beginning to think we are talking about (slightly)  different locations on either side of the river (you on the city side and Julie and I on the Southbank side).

The #109 cruise ship shuttle (which is part of the PTV network and needs a  myki card) terminates at the location indicated on the map in my last post, and on my last visit tram stop for route 58 still appeared there (apart from the  temp bus replacement).

The busses that park next to the Immigration Museum are probably ones run by the cruise lines  i.e. not PTV. I remember getting off there a few years ago.

Do you mean these?

The stops you have circled are not very well marked on the map. They are actually directly under the train bridge.
The PTV shuttles (yes I know the difference - I've lived in the cbd for 12 years and deal with cruise pax throughout the season) terminate & rest beside the Immigration Museum. Pax can disembark and board there. There are little tents (tent isn't the word I want - the square thing people take to the beach!!) and PTV staff there all day helping out with maps and directions up to Collins & Bourke st stops etc.
I know the map suggests the buses physically terminate on the Queen St bridge - but they actually don't. That is just where they let off pax so they can walk back to Southbank if desired. But realistically in practice the final stop is the Immig Museum.

The non PTV big glossy tour type coaches park in the bay on the opposite side of the road and generally just have a driver or two hanging around outside them.

Thanks for the additional information. Useful to me because I have limited mobility. So I can catch the bus from right inside the Station Pier terminal, saving the half a kilometre walk to the tram terminus, and I can alight at the Immigration Museum, which is close to the 58 tram?

OK, found them on Google street view (on PTV journey planner called "Flinders St/Queens Bridge St #1"

And then there is this (on PTV journey planner called Casino/Southbank/Queens Bridge St #115) which is where I have always got off the #109 cruise shuttle bus and which is the one in question as to whether the #58 tram (still) stops there (enroute to QVM and the zoo among others).

Yep that's the stop/s hiding under the train bridge. (The one heading south was always there but the one heading north is the newer one built 13 months ago).
I don't recollect them getting rid of stop 115 in the recent "clear out". That would make it quite a hike to the next stop in Southbank for folks.
I walk over there weekly for dinner but can't say I've noticed if the stop is there or not. I only take notice of the ones under the train bridge as I use them to go up William - or direct lost tourists to them.

Thank you all for the info and verification!

I am circling back to update with the reply from a Customer Resolutions Officer, Public Transport Victoria copied below (2 weeks from my inquiry of the likelihood of updating expiration dates):

"I acknowledge receipt of your complaint regarding the PTV Website showing expired Myki Explorer attraction discounts.

Thank you for raising your concerns with Public Transport Victoria and I sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused to you.

I have forwarded your feedback to onto the relevant teams for their review, and they have advised the expired attractions will be removed from the PTV Website as soon as possible, as the offers are only available for the set time periods."

So, yes, there will only be 4 attractions currently with valid discount and only to those specified activities:

MCG Tours and Australian Sports Museum

  Queen Victoria Market

  SEA LIFE Melbourne

  Sea All Dolphin Swims

With that, we can better plan our day in Melbourne before and after the ~ 3 hr walking tour: starts from State Library Victoria and ends at  Hamer Hall at Southbanknear Flinders Street Station and Federation Square.

Thank you!

As for the discounts, MCG tour is good if you are a sports fan, I don't get Vic Market as it's free anyway, Sea Life isn't as good as Sydney & Dolphin Swim is in Queenscliff which would take all day just to get to.

From Hamer Hall either go down the ramp behind to the Southbank Promenade for a snack or drink on the banks of the Yarra or keep walking along St Kilda Rd to the National Gallery of Victoria which is next to the Arts Centre. Entry is free and payment required only for blockbuster exhibitions. there are three venues within for meals or snacks.

A vote for SeaLife, the Melbourne Aquarium.  I know it's not as big as the Sydney Aquarium, but it does have some excellent displays, and also the only King Penguins and Gentoo Penguins you can see in Australia, short of a trip to Antarctica. They  are fascinating birds to see. It's walking distance from the shuttle bus city drop off, or the tram from Port Melbourne.

QVM discount is for its 2 hr foodie tour which we have ruled out.

Will look into MCG Tours and Museum, SEA Life, Yarra River, Royal Exhibition Bldg, State Library Bldg as well QVM to figure out the itinerary/logistics and perhaps some Melbourne coffee along the way. 🙂

It will be a fruitful day in Melbourne!

Melbourne has some great laneways which you might find interesting - cafes with wonderful coffee, boutiques and bars plus street art. Melbourne Laneways

It was there last November. We got off the 58 tram after crossing the river from the CBD side and boarded the shuttle bus back to the port at the same stop.
