Info about Zaandam

We are considering a New England/Canada in May.  It would be on the Zaandam.  Can someone whose been on that ship recently give us an update?  Looking for information about activities like music venues (especially want to know if there is Lincoln Center & BB King), what types of World Stage entertainment is there, do the cabin bathrooms have showers or tubs, have they updated the tv system with larger tvs & the On Demand system?

This is to advise guests who've booked Ocean-view staterooms on board Zaandam that during the April 2018 dry dock, the bathrooms in the below staterooms will be updated to a shower-only configuration:

Lower Promenade Deck: D3331 - D3370

Main Deck: C2564 - C2647

Please note, this change does not affect all Oceanview staterooms, only the specific staterooms noted above.

Here is the latest 'Ships at a glance' chart which shows the facilities on each ship.

Thanks so much for sharing this link.

I was able to print off the page once I opened it up in Adobe Acrobat.

Thanks again!

There is no BB King or Lincoln Center on Zaandam.

Zaandam never had a BB King Lounge, and really has no place for one.
The ship also never had a Lincoln Center, but has kept the Explorers Lounge it has had since inception. The style of music there is the same as Lincoln Center.

So the televisions are now updated and able to be seen from the bed?  Fingers crossed...

Hopefully, the TVs, at least in the inside cabins, are still on the shelf where they can be seen from the couch.
IIRC, that's what I read in a post about the TV placements.

Is the seating configuration like several years ago ( sofas, tables), or is it chairs in rows?

Anyone know if this applies to sister volendam?

It’s a combination of both. The middle of the room has chairs in rows with some little tables in between for your drinks. Big comfy padded chairs with tables against the windows, and then some scattered tables and chairs/sofas in the very back. Volendam is probably the same but I’ve never been on her.

We were on the Zaandam last Fall.  The chairs are in rows 4 across - aisle - 4 across with an occasional round table in between.  By the window there are lounge chair, arranged in 4 around a table.  We had a fabulous (he did a recital on the Main stage during a seedy afternoon) pianist, sometimes joined by a cellist.  Their music was usually classical and very well done.  We prefer the Zaandam arrangement to Lincoln Center on the larger ships.  It's convenient for a before dinner or after dinner visit and it's just the right size too!

Regarding the television in the balcony cabin:  we did not have the new ones.  However in front of the bed, their was a large (too large) wood frame around the picture.  Our steward said it was where the new television will go.  He also said the more expensive balcony cabins will have even larger televisions.

Removing the TV on the shelves will provide more room and make cleaning easier.  However I understand that it will make it more difficult to see the TV from the sofa.

Been on the Zaandam twice, last time summer 2022 . Like mentioned in an other post, the wiring and setup for new tv’s was ready , but no screens yet due to logistical problems. We were in a Vista on the Voyage of the Vikings and on that itinerary you don’t really need a tv anyway…

I like the Explorer’s Lounge with Lincoln Center and the library with the café a whole lot better than on the other ships. Would love to sail on her again !
