Rare KKB Posted March 1, 2023 #1 Share Posted March 1, 2023 We got the Celebrity Visa in October 2022 via an email offering of 30K sign up points after minimum purchases. We have more than made those purchases. Yet the 30K extra points have never made it to our account! I have scoured the Bank of America site & it is clear as mud as to who I need to call to get those bonus points added on. Does anyone know who to call?? (I realize this is a shot in the dark...but I feel this is probably the place I could most likely find someone who knows, IF anyone does!)

Rare cruisestitch Posted March 1, 2023 #4 Share Posted March 1, 2023 As it’s a BOA problem, you will need to call BOA. Do you have a customer service number for them? It should be on your statement.

StellaTN Posted March 2, 2023 #6 Share Posted March 2, 2023 (edited) The points should show in your BOA app as soon as your card rolls over the month you earn them. It may not be on the main screen, you have to click on the rewards tab at the bottom then follow it a couple more places to get there. Theres a tab at the top once in Rewards that goes between summary and activity. Check that out. On the summary tab too, there's a blue long oval button that says Redeem - 2500 points minimum. Once the points post, you have to manually deposit the points into the My Cruise Points site, which is not linked in the BOA app. Then sometimes it takes a bit for them to actually turn into Celebrity OBC. I had to call, but magically, the day I called the points also showed up in my Celebrity OBC. Edited March 2, 2023 by StellaTN
industrious95 Posted March 3, 2023 #7 Share Posted March 3, 2023 I got the BOA card under the same offer in January. The points showed up in my BOA account within a day of charging a $2300 item (I paid my health insurance premium for the month😖 ) I transferred the 30,000 points immediately as (2) $150 OBC. It never showed up on my Celebrity reservation, so I figured I'd wait a week or so. When it still didn't show up on Celebrity, but did appear in BOA, I called Celebrity and the agent told me it's a BOA issue. I called BOA and after 30 minutes on hold, hearing a recording about how important my call was to them, I hung up. I called the next day and the BOA agent told me the points were definitely transferred and it was a Celebrity issue. So, I called Celebrity again and this time the phone agent helped me. He first took about 15 minutes and verified that I had received $150 OBC. I pointed out it was supposed to be $300, and it was another 10 minutes until he verified that. I got an email from Celebrity soon afterwards, confirming the $300 OBC. It would be much more transparent if the BOA offer said "30,000 points after spending $1000 and having us jerk you around on the phone for an hour, hoping you'll give up," but alas, no truth in advertising here. Hope this helps.

Rare Fly and Sail Posted March 16, 2023 #11 Share Posted March 16, 2023 You can do a lot better than getting something worth a measly $300 for a new credit card.

Not so much for only spending $1,000.00, and especially if you already have a booking where you will use that OBC. It's a nice deal, 30% back. Other than the signup bonus, it's a pretty cruddy card.

dilbertsdaddy Posted March 17, 2023 #17 Share Posted March 17, 2023 (edited) I recently did this - I thought there might be issues, but the credit appeared as soon as I paid the $1000. After I redeemed for OBC it took a week to show in my cruise. No issues at all for me Not a fan of BOA!!! One of the best ways to meet or exceed spend requirements and gain a massive amount of points/miles is to do a room charge at the casino, can do $5000 a day. Technically you don't have to gamble any of it, really comes in handy if your credit card gives you 3% back on travel

First time in like 30 years I didn't get instant approval when I applied for a credit card, plus I have a BOA auto loan which has never been paid late. My credit score is "excellent." Also, that's a lot of cash to handle once you get off the ship. Don't banks flag deposits over $10k? I'm curious how you've made this all work in the past. Thanks in advance! I generally do 2 or 3 days as once you start pulling that much X expects you to gamble a large amount or they’ll block you from further room charges until you increase your bets You can switch credit cards by going to guest services if you wish You will need to carry cash off, there are plenty of banks/atm machines that accept cash deposits in most of X’s ports so you can factor in extra time when booking flights home the same day you’re off the ship I’ve done this a dozen times since 2017, no problem with the bank. You’re supposed to declare with customs if you’re moving more than $10k/person so if you’re a couple you can each carry off $9999. That’s about 4 days of room charges, if you go over $20k you could turn in the overage amount to guests services so you each have no more than $9999. If you go through facial recognition there’s no place to declare anything anyways…If you elect to declare you’ll need to request a customs agent but with X’s room charge requirements, you’d need to be a serious gambler

That all makes sense. I guess with $20k in charges to credit card(s) you could get 60,000 points with a 3% travel reward rate. Not a bad deal considering you don't have to spend that money to get the points, but as you explained there are a few hoops to jump through if you're willing to make the effort. Thanks again
