Poll - How will “no Casinos” impact your decision on sailing new Crystal?

Casino return would be great. I never witnessed casino employees hawking people to come to casino.

Seems to me that it is overwhelming that would be nice but won't change their plans.

Dear Wife and I always enjoyed the casino onboard Crystal.  We would have preferred that it resume operation, and maybe someday it will.  However, as we start counting the weeks before our first cruise in three years, we don’t see the casino as crucial to a happy experience.  For us, Crystal was not a restaurant at sea or a zillion-star hotel or a floating casino.  It was an Idea, and we think The Idea will reveal itself again once we resume interacting with Serenity, its staff, and other guests in February.  There will probably be some warts, hopefully some improvements as well.  But we think The Idea will survive Covid-19 and the economy and possible overreach by previous owners.  It is a strange feeling to hold a reservation for a cruise, whose shipboard offerings are somewhat vague, as are the shore excursions and other amenities, and whose quality standards are yet to be observed.  However, it is exciting to contemplate how a substantial travel company like A&K will meet guests’ expectations, especially those of OC cruisers, by taking The Idea and bringing it to life again in NC.  We are looking forward to it, and we don’t think the casino will make a difference to the overall experience.  Anyway, there are lots of casinos around, and only one Crystal – again.

It's funny, Viking Ocean Cruises has no casinos on their 9 mid-size ships and they seem to keep them all packed!!!

So shall I hit the Like button or the Laugh button? And I think they have a new ocean ship debuting soon, too. They sure figured the whole thing out, somehow. They’ve only been on the ocean since 2015. And they’ve been in a few oversold positions lately, offering bumps.

 

Mr B and I just discussed what we’d do if we’re offered a bump for our cruise on Viking Jupiter this June.

I've always thought that the Viking passenger was someone moving up from Celebrity, Holland America or Princess looking for a smaller ship. I can see regular cruisers from the truly luxury lines doing a Viking with a special itinerary on a rare occasion, but not regularly.

I don’t think I’m the average luxury cruiser, as I’ve only done Crystal. Despite everybody saying it would spoil me and I’d never do other lines, I’ve done quite a few Celebrity and a few Royals, many for cncenience.

 

Coincidentally, my first Crystal was in 2015.

 

I always remind myself to go with accurate expectations, as much as possible.

No impact at all. Don't intend to try Crystal again for 2 to 3 years to evaluate how well the new management operates their old ships. There are too many excellent new ships and luxury cruise lines available to take a chance on Crystal. Looking forward to trying the Explore I after it has been operating for at least 6 months and providing it receives excellent reviews. Also looking forward to trying some of the new luxury expedition ships.

It has no impact on me either because Crystal Cruises is not in my budget. I'm just here because I did a double-take on your name while browsing around Cruise Critic.
