Tranquility Base Posted September 6, 2023 #428 Share Posted September 6, 2023 (edited) We have now left after our scenic cruising around Pitcairn. Once again we were lucky with the weather. Apparently the last few weeks has been wind & rain. We viewed Adamstown and the Mayor spoke with the ship via radio. Interestingly we have a descendant onboard. She spoke with a relative onshore and that was also broadcast around the ship. She got to the sound the ship’s whistle as a farewell. We circled port side to, and now 2 sea days to Papeete. Regarding the weather. This trip has been one of the best in that regard. Only one missed port ( Lerwick ); no real rough seas ( a little bit off Oman & Yemen ), and no real problems with rain while ashore. Rare Ozwoody Posted September 6, 2023 #432 Share Posted September 6, 2023 On the 2014WC, the Pitcairners came on board while we circled the island, to sell their arts and crafts. It does not seem to have happened since, a bit sad that. It was a chance for them to make a little money. We bought a turtle carved from a really nice timber, lost of whirly grain, A nice piece of woodwork.

Unfortunately she is unable to land and we are unable to board but she circumnavigates our beautiful home before heading to Papeete, Tahiti. Bon Voyage, safe travels and calm seas " Great to read that a Pitcairn descendant was on your cruise. A few years ago some Pitcairn descendants living on Norfolk who I know took a freighter ship to Pitcairn to visit the island.

Tranquility Base Posted September 7, 2023 #435 Share Posted September 7, 2023 A question was asked about the new internet across the Sth Pacific in this part of the world. No problems thus far. Lost live TV for a couple of days which was to be expected, but internet very good.

I follow some people I know on Norfolk Is & so get to see some photos of theirs, including the ones from Pitcairn. I'm not sure how they took that photo - I guess a drone from the island?
