Recent Shareholder OBC experience

I recently submitted request for my shareholder OBC and for the first time ever, it was denied due to being on a discounted rate.  I always travel on a discounted rate and have never been denied before, anyone else? 🙁

Sounds like they're cracking down - extended the CCL OBC perk for another year, but getting more diligent about enforcement?

I'm submitting request for 4 upcoming cruises (1st time to actually submit) all of which are discounted rates.

I submitted on our recent cruise and it was approved.   What would be considered a discount rate?  We just booked with a normal sale price.

Was it a casino rate .. not just a regular rate? There have been threads in the past casino rates were not getting the obc approved  .. but for really cheap rates. 

 

I got my obc but it's a regular sale rate,  not casino, just last week.

The casino rates that are $200 deposit/$200 back in OBC are most commonly the ones denied.

I'm on a casino rate in Aug and was approved. My Nov cruise is the $200/$200 so we'll see on that one...wouldn't be real mad about it if denied.

I found if I selected an higher category (like spa level) and they just apply the discount, I get approved.

It was a casino offer but not that discounted like the ones above.  I am going to wait a few days and resubmit, that is what some others have suggested.

We had four approved for September through next April a couple of months ago.  Two of these were the 50% off anniversary rates and these were approved.  We don't do the casino, so never get any of those rates.  Those usually seem to be the ones getting denied.

In the past year we have taken advantage of several great casino offers of $100/person for a balcony cabin, DOU everywhere and $750 or $1500 OBC and have not had any issue having our shareholder OBC applied as well. We are sailing on Valor in a couple of weeks using this offer as well and got our shareholder OBC approved a few days ago.

 

There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to approvals or denials. Maybe it depends on the mood of the person that day that is responsible for issuing shareholder OBC??

I am curious for those that were approved if you had more than two people in the room since the casino rates only apply to those two?

Half and half for us. In the last 12 months we have cruised 7 times (8 if you want to include our upcoming one in a couple of weeks). We have taken our daughter with us on 3 (soon to be 4) of them and the others have been just the 2 of us. 

 

Again, all 8 cruises in the last 12 months have been at the casino rate I described earlier.

Getting ready to submit for the first on 5 upcoming cruises. One of the 5 is a casino rate $100 fee/$100 OBC, no DOU or other discounted perk, did upgrade from free inside to verandah, so we'll see if it gets declined. Will be disappointed if it does knowing others have theirs approved.

We just got a "denied" this morning for our 4-day cruise in October.  Wasn't surprised as we booked on a casino rate (free interior, $200 OBC, drinks on us in the casino).  We did add a third passenger (our daughter), but the rate was still very low.  

 

We DID get approved booking under a casino rate for our Alaskan cruise last month, but we upgraded our room and that cruise was much more expensive.

I now have a $100 casino rate (plus $200OBC) for Feb. 

Not expecting it but will try.

Im not sure if this makes a difference or not or if it even goes to the same people, but I have always sent the email to two separate email addresses. I send the OBC requests to shareholders@carnival.com and guestadmin@carnival.com

 

Again, not sure if that makes a difference or not or if I have just been lucky about never being denied even with awesome casino offers.

It is completely random. I have been approved on casino rates and denied on regular VIFP rates open to everyone. My theory: There is one jerk in the office who denies everyone over every little thing.

Yep I agree. We got denied and I resubmitted for the heck of it and it got approved...
