How to cancel?

Hi. I booked directly. (I know, I know.) In sort of a strange predicament.

I have one YC sailing for January that I plan to cancel. It is not paid in full, and I will lose my nonrefundable deposit. It is linked to my MSC account when I log in.

I have another YC booking in January that I plan to keep. (It is paid in full.) It is the only one of the two that shows up in the MSC & Me app.

I’m concerned that the wrong one will be canceled if I call. If I don’t plan to make full payment/keep a booking I do need to alert MSC, don’t I?

I’d like to link the paid reservation (the cruise I intend to be on) to my login on the website, because in part I’m not convinced it was booked correctly and is really happening, but I don’t want to undo anything. For sure the app shows that January sailing and has the countdown and other details.

I’ve put off for months actually dealing with this. So much trepidation.

Thanks for any advice!

Thanks. The concern obviously is that they cancel the wrong booking. 😬 I can’t justify two YC sailings in two weeks. (A better thing came along after I had placed my deposit on the first sailing.)

Thanks. I see the price has doubled, so that first one was a relative deal. We also each had $50 OBC for loyalty and another $50 OBC on the one I need to cancel. That wasn’t applied to the booking I’m keeping. It was supposed to be applied to new booking. I think that’s way too many things to inquire about in one phone call.

Bookings don’t just cancel automatically if final payment isn’t made?

Would I ask for proof of cancellation? Proof also that the other booking is intact? There are separate booking numbers, so maybe that’s easy enough. (They wouldn’t both be linked in any way, would they?) Give them only the booking number of sailing I am canceling? I sail a few other cruise lines and this is the only one that makes me nervous.

When I booked I was under the impression I could change the sail date. Didn’t realize I must pay the amount in full and can’t apply deposit to a cheaper cabin category. That’s on me, but the rep didn’t help. He didn’t make that clear to me before I pounced.

I have two cruises booked and I could on,y see one in the app.  But when I clicked on profile, there is a tool icon in the upper right.  Click on it, and you have the option to logout.  If you do that, you can then log in with the other booking number.  EM

why exactly they will do that? what kind of nonsense is that?

because it is MSC and anything can happen....

I've heard, someone to avoid the nonrefundable discount downgraded their YC room to a regular room and then cancelled after that.  I can't seem to find the posting, so not sure if it work but in theory, it sounds right....

you are going to have to deal with it sooner or later. Best to get it over with and cross your fingers they don't screw it up. Ask for a confirmation when you are on the phone. Don't hang up until you receive it.

Get the date, time and agent’s name when you phone to cancel.

Don't call anyone. Just let the lost deposit go. It is gone anyway. It is only a deposit. Should you call and give anyone a booking number of a paid in full cruise the dumbbells will cancel the wrong cruise. Should anyone contact you from MSC about the final payment, just tell them you can't go and expect to forfeit the deposit. DO NOT mention another cruise or booking number. You'll be sorry.

FWIW, I’m a she. The 7-night Seashore casino booking is paid in full. The three-night Seashore booking, which is a few days after the 7-day, is not. Tried to link the 7-day booking to my account on the website today and it wouldn’t accept the booking number. (Maybe I mistyped it or it was some other user error.) The 3-day booking is there. Called today and did not cancel the unpaid booking. Final payment is due in a few months. Both are YINs. Maybe I’ll pony up the money in a few months. The primary concern is that the weeklong cruise somehow disappears. It is showing in the app with the correct countdown.

Appreciate the feedback from the people who understand why I have concerns. 🙂

When logged in on the website, do you see the other booking after you click "All my cruises" in the top right above the word "Booked"? If you see the other cruise and view that one ("See details") last before exiting, it will be that one that you see first when you log in the next time.

Basically, after riding the high after a YIN cruise on the Meraviglia, and hyping it up to my dad, I grabbed what I thought was a deal on a short sailing. A few weeks later a better offer came along. I did get invoices on both each time I made a booking. Not being able to see both bookings in app and when I log in to website is disconcerting. And I took my dad off the three-day when I put him on the 7-day, not realizing I couldn’t downgrade my cabin.

I do have separate booking numbers and emailed invoices, so I suppose I should be fine, but …

I have had the sailing dates change.

Embarkation port change

Length of cruise change.

Country of embarkation change

Even category of room change without any notification.

And ? All this happened on any other cruise line during the Covid.
