SAS21 Posted July 25, 2023 #1 Share Posted July 25, 2023 Is MDR available for lunch on embarkation day? We are sailing on Harmony.
Mum2Mercury Posted July 25, 2023 #2 Share Posted July 25, 2023 I'm pretty sure no, as they use some of the wait staff to move luggage onboard and to man muster stations.
The Fun Researcher Posted July 25, 2023 #3 Share Posted July 25, 2023 I've never seen a MDR open for lunch on embarkation day. If you want to avoid the madness of the buffet on embarkation day, we've found that a specialty restaurant for lunch on embarkation day is a very relaxing way to start your cruise. For us lately that's been Jamie's Italian on our last two cruises but the venues vary by ship. You can check in your cruise planner. Just an option

Give the Solarium Bistro a go on embarkation day lunch, far less crowded than WJ.

Norwich Cruiser Posted July 25, 2023 #7 Share Posted July 25, 2023 Windjammer isn’t usually crowded for the first hour or so
Sunshine3601 Posted July 25, 2023 #8 Share Posted July 25, 2023 Cabins are usually ready around 1 pm on most sailings. If you can board / check in around 1 pm, do your muster station visit then go to WJ. It is usually less busy then it is between 11 to 1 pm when folks are hanging out waiting for cabins to open up.
